About a year ago I expanded to a new research area in wild cider fermentations. Spearheaded by my recently graduated, talented student Eileen (now interviewing for PhD programs), our first publication from something that started with an in house 🍎 ferment journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mr…

Disappointed hearing that at a conference meant to promote inclusivity another PI berated my undergrad student's poster and proceeded to call me a bad mentor. Reminder, this behavior has huge negative consequences for new trainees that are just excited for their first conference.

I’m excited to announce that I will be joining @UChicago_Micro as an Assistant Professor this Fall! My lab will explore how nosocomial pathogens are transmitted, with a focus on the mechanisms (bacterial and host) driving spread of Acinetobacter in hospitals.
