A few key observations: - Saudi Arabia and UAE rivalry has not ended. In fact, it seems to have intensified. - UAE's move to geo-block social media accounts will be copied by other GCC countries to silence external dissent. - GCC will also try to geo-block Western media they they label as critical. - Other countries in Asia and Africa will copy this tactic. Western countries have been doing this already.

Three years into Sudan's civil war, Human Rights Watch has documented a systematic pattern of arbitrary detention, torture, forced disappearances, and extrajudicial executions by the Sudanese Armed Forces and affiliated militias across SAF-controlled territory. The report, based on interviews with 28 people including seven former detainees, nine relatives, 11 lawyers and activists, and one security forces member conducted between June 2025 and February 2026, describes abuses in Khartoum, Gezira, Gedaref, Red Sea, and Northern states. The al-Baraa Ibn Malik battalion — an Islamist militia of roughly 20,000 fighters linked to the Muslim Brotherhood — is identified as responsible for many of the violations, with SAF forces specifically targeting people from Darfur, profiling them as RSF collaborators on the basis of ethnicity alone, and in some cases executing civilians on charges of "waging war against the state" with little evidence and no due process.
