@pkenneydev

I do solo game jams: 23x Ludum Dare + 6x 7DRL. I'll wear any hat, but my true aim is gold in the Fun category.

My entry for #LDJAM 50 has you interacting with a decaying double-pendulum, feeding it energy to find and complete hidden challenges.

@ToastieRepublic Wait is Engauge back and souped up? Looking good! That axe looks fun, and I loved that the player recovered from sliding near the edge, instead of falling to their doom.

@LordsofLimited Proof your advice is good: built defensive dragon deck for the Arena Open and went down 1-2. Then rebuilt it as Mardu aggro and won six do-or-dies straight to get there. Thanks for the great podcast!

@unormal Is it okay to admit I have played Armored Core but not Dark Souls?

Still testing negative on rapid tests but I’m pretty sure I’ve got COVID. This is no fucking joke. Most intense headache I’ve ever had which lasted 20 hours, fever, joint pain and slight chest pain.

@RFephemeration FPS with interesting movement always sounds fun. Are you experimenting with multiplayer here, too? If so, did you do anything for client side prediction?

I'm playing around in Unity with an arena fps idea I had a few years ago. Lots of cubes, abstract environments, maybe multiple gravity directions and a few portals... I've done some optimizations (no DOTS, yet). Now I'm adding rotating rings and working out the physics there.

@Highsight @CloakandDasher Best of luck!! Just the other day I was feeling nostalgic and rewatched your old Insights plays of my early jam games. Pure fun to watch ppl play your games as a hobbyist. Must feel high stakes on a commercial project.

Spent the last few hours personalizing messages to influencers for @CloakandDasher. Only got 8 done. I know I should probably just bulk send keys, but the people I reached out to were people I've loved watching for years! It's so cool to email them in a professional capacity!

@terminaIlywiII @bruno__valdez @IGN I've been into roguelikes for a long time now and I guess I don't know of any games where you can keep upgrades or weapons between rounds. Every game has unlockables, but I've yet to find one where progression stays between rounds. Can you give an example?

Depending on how many of these amazing titles you've played, this could be the toughest question you have to answer all day.

@RFephemeration Yeah - sometimes I wonder about the parallel universe where Herzog Zwei became the model for RTS instead of Starcraft.

I think I connect this to starcraft compared to other rts games. I don't want to feel like a commander giving orders, I want to more directly control units. But I'm not embodying them as I do so.

I uninstalled clash royale again. I like the matches and deck building but the gacha metagame has a very negative effect on my daily life. It's a shame that it's such a dominant structure. I play very few games these days... SOUP the worm game, and this week Exanima again

My entry for Ludum Dare 48 compo is about working in a pit with a hyperactive autonomous jackhammer, and nobody cares that you don't have the arms to operate it. It's either way too easy or way too hard, I can't tell. savagehill.itch.io/hyperjack

@EduYukio @Sol_HSA @ludumdare I really enjoy the constraints of compo/solo and I appreciate that there is a category specifically for it, with an independent winner.

@Sol_HSA @ludumdare Please, don't remove the compo =(. On the LD47, 25% of the entries were compo, this is not negligible.

@edenicholas Nice work, that is not easy!! Thanks for digging into it. For the feel I just sat there looping, and looping, and tweaking. It's 3 layers: bounce, gravity, and thrust. Needed the player to have enough influence but not total control.

My compromise is to cast rays in a ring, and activate a "foot" only when you are near a drop. I can already imagine the janky corner cases, is there a better solution for RB-based FPS style controls?
