It's best for me to stay off of twitter but I really wanted to post about Anime Boston tomorrow 💔

I just found out I can still private my account while suspended so I did that to not get overwhelmed with likes/comments/etc. For those of you wondering I got suspended for 7 days for describing this Lawyer emote. I don't know why I keep getting censored.

@gurutze_art Back in 2019 before Genshin kind of took over, I remember seeing a lot of Bandori fan merchandise at Anime Boston, not just that but also Hypmic and Enstars. I can't speak to how well they sold but I bought some myself

@prisonetta The only ""idol"" franchise i sell decently is bandori bc literally No One has bandori merch but we're had 3 bandori seiyuu as guests, bandori fans are STARVED other idol franchises at least see some official merch and they get that instead

Made love live merch when emitsun herself was a guest at that specific con (because im a huge love live fan) and i sold like, 2 charms in total Artists don't do a lot of things they like because it just doesn't sell All my octopath stuff is genuinely for the love of octopath bc

@Mewgicalgurlart @Guronurse @prisonette I have some Bandori & other idol fan merch but I got those before genshin was even popular back in 2018-2019, actually back then there was a lot of Bandori & Hypmic merch, but I don't know how well it sold. I know at least I bought it.

@Guronurse @prisonette You are into a very good point here. From Idol franchises I only have 5 AveMujica keychains but other artists as well as me have noticed that idols' fans mostly tend to support the bands and oshis by buying official items and do not engage *as much* on fanmerch culture

@prisonette But if Genshin is what's making you the most money then I don't see why you should stop lol

@prisonette ADDENDUM (im suspended on main for talking about a video game emote lmao): My post was not meant to single out this artist for drawing genshin!!!!! There are a lot of good points in the comments. My only wish is that there will be more variety in artist alleys+

@prisonette As someone who loves "idols" series like Love Live, PjSekai or Enstars let me tell you that it doesn't sell well. Even Genshin fanmerch is declining because of people complaining. The last event, I talked to an artist if I could get her print from one of my oshis in Enstars (1/)

Then draw them yourself lol or commission artists to do so. Artists are not your personal free merch chat GPT If we want to earn money with our work, we need to make stuff we know it sells (also you assume artists don’t like the popular stuff they draw lol)

@rainevelt @prisonette Yeah, I understand why it's so common, I just wish there was more variety. If it's making you money then more power to you, I won't go out of my way to complain directly to an artist, I just have my own personal grievances with seeing the same things over and over.

@prisonette As someone who occasionally tables at cons- Genshin became really popular during the pandemic, and is still relevant today. Meaning it's far more likely to have more people buying it. And since it lasts for a REALLY REALLY long time, if there's leftover merch we havent sold, we-

Ah just saw this person only attends one con a year. So you basically go to a single one and yet have the audacity to generalize and say all the cons are full of Genshin? Do you know how many anime cons exists all around the world?😂
