Trump’s efforts to put Europe in a strategic fork are in effect making Europe weaker. Looked at benignly this is just a function of Trump’s strategic missteps in the ME. Looked at more malevolently, this is the implementation of the US National Security Strategy which focuses on dividing Europe.

Rutte chases US cash and weapons for Ukraine while Trump drives up oil prices and eases sanctions so Russia can finance its full scale invasion. The art of the deal here? Europe has to clear the Straight of Hormuz while being berated for not spending enough to deter Russia in Europe.
