Not a completely normal day at work today. The hardware for our new #storage expansion has arrived and will be installed in the coming days. 30 PB raw storage, 1500 disks, more than 3 tons of equipment. #HPC

About to start new genome project requiring hybrid genome assembly. Haven't de novo assembled large genomes the last 3 years. I can reuse "zcat" and "gzip". #newtechnology#cryinginside

@noah_legall@bioinformer For the standard needleman wunsch, I would say no. But, you can implement a banded version of the needleman wunsch algorithm, with the added risk of missing a large insertion or deletion.
