At some point, senior Premier League execs have to offer a proper explanation in public for their leniency towards Chelsea. They owe an explanation to fans of clubs punished more harshly. They owe an explanation to those clubs who did abide by the rules. They have to offer some explanation as to why PSR breaches are deemed far more serious than acts of "deception and concealment". Yes, these are the offences of a previous regime at Chelsea. But inconsistencies run through the PL's defence and their reputation is damaged. They can’t hide from a controversy of this magnitude.

Spurs got 86 points in 2016-17 - very high for a non-champion
A Chelsea propelled by these payments beat them
That changed history could have transformed Spurs’ present - which is all too relevant now

@MikeyHotspurs @iBen91 @AlasdairGold What an absolutely bizarre thing to say. Ali is an honest reporter who has worked really hard to provide all us fans with info and, more to the point, he's a very nice and humble guy who doesn't deserve you're tin foil hat attack. Direct your anger at those who deserve it.

@iBen91 @AlasdairGold His job isn’t to gas light the fans
And that’s what he’s been doing for years

Wow the inconsistency with VAR is CRAZY.
➡️ Ekitike push vs Spurs - Goal ⚽️
➡️ Romero push vs West Ham - No Goal ❌
➡️ Kolo Muani push vs Arsenal - No Goal ❌
➡️ Wilson push vs Spurs - Goal ⚽️
The same thing happened 4 times and ALL 4 Decisions went against Spurs 🤦♂️ #VAR

🚨🎙️Joe Cole on Thomas Frank:
"Thomas Frank has the hardest job. He’s a great manager, and if it works at Tottenham, great — if it doesn’t, he’ll be absolutely fine wherever he goes next.
Spurs should give him his first season, then do a proper appraisal. Is the issue player quality? Culture? How long does that take to change, and how long do you give him?
Thomas Frank is a top manager, but the club is a very difficult place to work and he’s in a tough environment. Spurs’ best bet is to lean into him, ask what he needs to get the team right, and leave the football to him."

English

@henrywinter the stark contrast in the media's treatment of Frank vs Ange is shocking. Frank is getting a free pass due the injuries and players getting banned. Under Ange the injuries were due to his training methods and the Red cards were due to his poor discipline.

How can a team like spurs be 6 pts off the relegation zone this far into a season and still have the same manager they started the season with? How far have our standards fallen? #Tottenham
English

@marcus_buckland @solventspurs Marcus come on. Why are you going so easy on the guy. You spent the last 2 years complaining about every element of Ange and you give this guy an get out or jail free card at every opertunity. That is a shocking answer to a question that was very easy to answer.
English

@solventspurs You guys are SO hard on him! Faced with a near impossible situation I’m not sure what you expect him to say that would satisfy you!
English

Absolute car crash of a press conference from Frank. Really can’t be overstated how out of his depth this guy is right now.

"I HAVE NO IDEA!" Thomas Frank on does he expect Cristian Romero to be at Tottenham next season. #COYS #THFC @TomBarclay_

@charlieparrish @robtdaly Well said Charlie, far better than what the BBC and sky have and also a very nice guy.
English

Spurs don’t have tonnes going for them rn, but in @robtdaly they do have the best club commentator in the land. It’s a nonsense Rob isn’t yet one of Sky/TNT/the Beeb’s main guys.

The media love Thomas Frank at Spurs because he has lowered the standards so much at Tottenham that it fits their natural inclination to shit on us and look down on us

"I think its difficult to get the supporters back on side" 🗣️ Jamie Carragher believes it will be difficult for Spurs to replace Thomas Frank after backing him in January ⚪️

@22GrandPod Was telling my kids about the portsmouth gig the other day. Such a good night, felt sorry for maximo being last on as most were there to see AM as they were exploding at the time. All the acts were excellent though.

Gallagher is a top level player.
If you need that profile, he’d be high on many teams list.
Comfortable on the ball moreso than people care to admit. Always reliable (huge with how many players are careless with basics and foundational stuff). Insane engine and desire. Box to box. A relentless and smart presser. And can play ahead of the ball and score goals.
But…the profile isn’t different enough to what Spurs already have. They need ball players who get that ball forward and breaking lines. That’s not Gallagher profile. So the argument is to sign that AND Gallagher.
But then it falls back into what I hate so much about modern football. Fat, rich clubs just signing the next player rather than committing and working with what they brought in.
What does this say and do to Gray? Bergvall? Sarr? Brilliant young players who all have similar assets in many ways to each other, and don’t necessarily balance each other out. So what now. You just cast Sarr aside? Bergvall? Gray? Ew.
I love Gallagher. I do not love the process that’s led to this.
