High school basketball fans will learn around midday when the various classes will play basketball regional finals this week in Hickory, per the NCHSAA.

The NCHSAA Board of Directors decided to cancel this weekend's regional swimming competition and the board also finalized the qualification process for the 2026 state championships, scheduled for Feb. 4-7 in Cary. 1. Only individuals and relay teams that had previously qualified for regional competition in their respective events will be considered for advancement to the state meet. 2. The top 12 individual swimmers from the East Region and the top 12 individual swimmers from the West Region advance to the finals. 3. The top 8 relay teams from the East Region and the top 8 relay teams from the West Region advance, and the next fastest regional entry times, regardless of region, will qualify until the field reaches a maximum of 32 individual swimmers and 24 relay teams. 4. An additional heat will be added only if there are more than 32 automatic qualifying times from the regional meet entries or in the event of ties for 32nd place Tickets: Tickets will be sold online through GoFan at $15 for Swimming and $5 for Diving. Ticket links will be posted on the NCHSAA website. GoFan is currently processing refunds for any tickets previously purchased for regional swimming or diving competitions.
