My first season as a college coach is officially over… and the truth is, I’m feeling everything at once. I walked onto this field months ago with nerves, excitement, and a hope that I could make a difference. What I didn’t expect was how deeply this team would impact me. Every practice, every tough conversation, every shared laugh, every long bus ride—those moments changed me as a coach and as a person. There were days I questioned myself. Days the weight of responsibility felt heavy. Days I wondered if I was doing enough for these young men who look to us for guidance. And then there were the days—the moments—where I’d see their growth, their heart, their resilience… and it reminded me why I chose this path in the first place. This season wasn’t perfect. But it was real. It was honest. And it meant something. Standing on that sideline, headset on, watching these players fight through adversity with everything they had—it made me proud in a way I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. I’m grateful for the staff who welcomed me in, for the athletes who trusted me, and for the opportunity to pour myself into something bigger than wins and losses. The season ends… but the bond doesn’t.
The lessons don’t.

Dear Elgin High School Family, As I prepare to close this chapter of my life, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has played a significant role in my journey over the past four years. It’s hard to believe that my time at Elgin High School is coming to an end, but I am proud to leave behind a legacy as the 2024-25 Bi-District Champs in football and with the regional shot put record in track and field for 2024-25. First and foremost, I want to thank Coach Clawson. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such an incredible team. Your guidance and support have been invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me. I’m grateful to have worked and grown under your leadership. To my fellow coaches—Coach Ferguson (defensive coordinator), Coach Mueller, Coach Moreno, Coach Kelly, Coach Dinegro, Coach Norton, Coach Luna, Coach Hood and Coach Lucero (offensive coordinator)—thank you for your unwavering support and mentorship. Each of you has contributed to my growth as a coach and as a person. I have learned so much from you, and I will carry those lessons with me forever. To my fellow student-athletes, thank you for pushing me to be my best and for sharing countless unforgettable moments on and off the field. You have made me a better coach and a better man, and I will always cherish the memories. Lastly, to the Elgin community, thank you for welcoming me with open arms as I made my transition from Memphis, TN. Your kindness and support have made this journey truly special, and I am proud to have been a part of such a vibrant community. As I move forward, I will always carry a piece of Elgin High School in my heart. Thank you for the memories, the lessons, and the friendships.
