An Ontario court has ruled that Premier Doug Ford must release logs of government-related calls made on his personal phone, affirming that such records are subject to freedom of information laws. As far as I’m concerned, @fordnation not handing over his cell phone records is breaking the law and he should be arrested immediately. Changing important laws like the freedom of information act should be illegal and henceforth not possible. Governments have to be transparent and accountable at all times. Without checks and balances governments can do whatever they damn well please without fear of legal repercussions. Making any changes retroactive shouldn’t even be allowed to begin with. I have reached out to my Conservative MPP multiple times emails, phone calls, messages. Every single time, I’ve been respectful. And what do I get? Nothing. Not even an acknowledgment. Let me be clear: You don’t just represent the people who voted for you. You represent everyone in your riding. My tax dollars pay your salary. My concerns matter. And these aren’t trivial concerns. We’re talking about cuts to healthcare and education that are affecting families across Ontario. We’re talking about changes to Freedom of Information laws that impact transparency and accountability. And now we’re hearing about the purchase of a $28 million private jet under Doug Ford while people are struggling with rising costs, long wait times, and underfunded services. These are real issues. These are exactly the kinds of things constituents are supposed to raise with their elected officials. So why the silence? I don’t expect my MPP to agree with me on everything. But I do expect them to do their job which includes listening and responding to the people they represent. Because this isn’t about politics. It’s about accountability. Ignoring constituents isn’t leadership. It’s avoidance. And when elected officials stop listening to the people they serve, that’s when democracy starts to break down. Silence like this? It speaks volumes.

It says to people watching that the premier has found a way to protect himself from the conditions he is asking everyone else to endure. And the FOI changes say he has also found a way to protect himself from having to answer for it. Protect Ontario becomes protect the premier.

This is where the "Protect Ontario" problem gets sharp. The entire organizing frame of this government during and since the provincial election has been Protect Ontario. From Trump, tariffs, and economic shocks beyond our control. It is the story Ford has told at every podium.

Premier Ford's brand has always been built on engineered accessibility. He flies commercial. He books economy. He deliberately sits at the back of the plane so he has to walk through the whole cabin and everyone sees him do it. Those are not accidents. They are well thought signals.
