Bisht, and Mitali Singh, have successfully sequenced and published the genome of the Red vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) for the first time! This globally invasive bird species is listed among the “100 World’s Worst Invasive Alien Species” by IUCN. Recent research work on water hyacinth genome sequencing study from Prof. Vineet Sharma's Lab at IISER Bhopal was highlighted in the Times of India newspaper on Aug 22 2024. The research was published in the iScience journal (Cell Press).
