I'm going to be the first one to say it: We all know Valorant ranked is in the slumps rn and it sucks, but I'd be willing to bet 90% of you tweeting about it actively contribute to the problem Whether you're shit talking, not comming, locking useless agents, not playing with your team, being petty, not listening because you think your idea is better, egotistical, not being able to take criticism, etc... It all contributes to ranked being bad. I recently saw a post from someone for a fix for all of this (I'm sorry I forget the name). But a commend your teammate system would be amazing for this game. And it should only put you in lobbies with the same rating. @wiphzy @fandompulse That’s one of the problems…thinking that a recast is just supposed to be some carbon copy of Alan Rickman. That in itself would be a cheap clone. Could it simply be that Essiedu beat out every other actor that that auditioned for the role? Everything is not agenda driven.🤷🏽‍♂️

Oh I 100% blame the casting director and HBO execs. To be fair, Harry Potter fans are like Star Wars fans. You’re never going to please everyone. They could’ve casted a younger carbon copy of Alan Rickman and people would have criticized it as a “cheap clone”. I’m not defending anyone’s actions. I simply ask to not suggest people don’t have a right to be upset, when you yourself get upset at the thought of whitewashing, which is purely a matter of skin color. I never once called you racist because of that. You are allowed to have those opinions.

The hilarious thing to me is no other points about his acting career or ability. Not even blame for the casting director. Just skin color.🤷🏽‍♂️

Edit to: I am not arguing based on race alone from the point that you are trying to make. HBO repeatedly said they were going to remain completely faithful to the books. I would be equally upset if there were a black character, by all standards, and they recast a white actor for the series. This is not faithful to the book. The descriptors used in the book for characters are very important and by changing those, the HBO directors blatantly spit in the face of those they swore to about being faithful to the books.

I actually think Paapa Essiedu is a fantastic actor, so I am personally not opposed to seeing what he does with the character, despite my reservations about the changing his race. I'm not arguing that at all. As I said, I'm simply pointing out your hypocrisy. You accuse people of being racist while you openly admit you are against whitewashing, which is PURELY because of skin color. Again, look in the mirror before criticizing other people.

You want a hypothetical answer to a very real thing that is happening. Argument for nothing but skin color is racist. We don’t do that.

But it doesn’t. Same with Hermione. Which goes back to argument for skin color without context is racist.

They have a right to be angry. He's white in the books. HBO said they were remaining faithful to the books, then cast someone completely opposite of what the character looked like in the books. It wasn't bold. It was foolish. Especially someone as integral to the story as Professor Snape. Sadly, they can't back out of it now. They risk certain doom from the "that's racist" cancel culture crowd and they'd also have a right to be angry. HBO is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Only thing to do is let the train ride the rails. Sucks to be HBO right now.
