NEW: Pete Hegseth's pastor and mentor says the United States should ban public Masses, Marian processions, and Corpus Christi devotions. Hegseth invited the anti-Catholic preacher to lead a prayer service at the Pentagon on February 14. thelettersfromleo.com/p/pete-hegseth…

@ChristopherHale Sounds like the argument is not to adopt a Reformed Theocracy; agree! But this also seems unnecessarily divisive. The Reformed will make common cause with Catholics before banning Corpus Christi. The conversation with @DouthatNYT established that.

@ChristopherHale Pete Hegseth with his crusader Jerusalem cross tattoos... Endorses the views of this clown? That's the problem with these types of Prots. They are all so mixed up in their understanding of symbolism and scriptures that their only foundational doctrine is a hatred of Catholicism.

@ChristopherHale And the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against her. When we see those who torment the Mother Church, we know where they come from and under who's influence they are.

@ChristopherHale @fireworkbonnie Isn’t he also the same pastor who has argued that women should not have the right to vote? Saying that each family gets a vote and that men represent the family = women should not have a right to vote

Satanic scum. To both Mr Hegseth and his “pastor”. You are just another Evangelical Dispensationalist Darbyist with a peanut sized brain who has zero knowledge of Christianity or Church tradition or history. You represent the worst of Epstein’s Darbyist America, the very pits and dark depths of Protestant doctrine with your mistranslated, misinterpreted and incomplete “scriptures” which heretical interpretations you use to wage war on Christianity. You commit murder and ethnic cleansing on the ancient Christian communities of the Middle East. You are a representative of Epstein’s Darbyist America. 🇺🇸 You are satanic, your opinions are misrepresentations. You are a sect. #Instablock You are not Christian.

@ChristopherHale I warned all my Catholic MAGA friends that ultimately this movement would turn on Catholics. They would be used for their Pro Life stance and then they discarded. And now with a new Pope critical of immigrant mistreatment? Another Trump enemy.

@ChristopherHale The white man's hatred of his past, his ancestry, didn't start with U.S. public schools. It began with Protestantism. You can see it in the writings of Sir Walter Scott & George Eliot. And now you know why Europe & the U.S. are in steep decline.

Pretty weird to me, as a non-Catholic that every American RW like ~2 years ago were doing this whole ‘TradCath’ thing like “Imagine melting down the Statue of L*berry and recasting it as a statue of Mary…” But now in current year we see that an underlying hateful ‘anti-papist’ rhetoric seems to still permeate American society. I’ve seen more ride-or-die Trump people going on about all Catholic priests being pedophiles in response to the pope…saying wars of aggression are bad…than New-Athiest leftists mocking Catholics in the last year and a half.

He is falling into the same trap as others who do not fully grasp the fullness of the truth. Our Catholic Church is a strong and powerful institution that stands firm against any single person or group. It was established by Christ himself and does not depend on the authority or personality of any one individual. Many non-Catholic Christians object to the pope being called the Vicar of Christ. But “vicar” simply means someone who acts on behalf of another. The biblical images of rock, shepherd, and steward show that Christ intended Peter to exercise authority on earth in his name. In Matthew 16:18–19, Jesus declares: “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church… I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven.” The keys symbolize authority, echoing Isaiah 22, where the king gives the “key of the house of David” to his chief steward; the prime minister who governs in the king’s name. Jesus, the new Davidic king, establishes Peter in a similar role within his kingdom, the Church. Christ remains the ultimate authority; “I hold the keys of death and Hades” (Rev 1:18); yet he delegates pastoral authority to Peter. In John 21, Jesus commands Peter three times: “Feed my lambs… tend my sheep… feed my sheep.” This is a clear entrusting of Christ’s flock. The authority to bind and loose reflects the power to teach, govern, forgive sins, and admit or exclude members of the community. Peter is thus invested with Christ’s authority as the kingdom’s chief teacher, vicar, and administrator; through him heaven governs the Church on earth (Jn 21:15–17;1 Tim 3:15).

@ChristopherHale He is an idiot! The Constitution says everyone is free to believe, but no one has the right to impose their beliefs on others. Not through images, nor symbols nor words or laws. Faith must not contribute to stigmatization or endanger people, neither in deed nor in word.
