The Venezuela situation isn’t over. I was talking to a friend of mine with deep ties to the oil field, and his view was that people are looking at this way too surface level. Yes, on the surface it’s memes, political posturing, and headlines about Venezuela’s president. But underneath, this is about oil. Venezuela holds the largest proven oil reserves in the world, and despite poor production, they still matter to global energy supply. If the US now has leverage or access there, this is now much bigger than geopolitics. An increase in supply over time means lower energy costs, less inflation pressure, and potentially more liquidity flowing into risk assets. On the other side, countries that benefited from Venezuelan oil like China and Russia don’t just ignore that. Any retaliation from them creates its own ripple effects on markets. The market didn’t react immediately, so many assume this situation is irrelevant. That is very likely a big mistake.

Something interesting is happening on crypto YouTube right now. Over the last three to four weeks, as I have mentioned multiple times, we have seen YouTube views drop dramatically. Creators who were previously getting 100,000 views per video are now getting closer to 30,000. Creators who were getting 20,000 views are now struggling to hit 8,000. This has been a consistent trend. Retail investors, as a whole, are watching less crypto content on YouTube. What is interesting, though, is that while total views are dropping, click through rates are actually increasing. If you do not know what click through rate is, it is simply the percentage of people who see a video and actually click on it. This sounds counterintuitive. How can views be down while click through rate is up? The answer is simple. Fewer people care overall, so fewer people are searching for or being shown crypto content. But the people who are still here are more engaged. They are clicking more, watching more, and learning more. The casual retail audience is leaving, but the committed audience remains. Historically, the people who stay during periods like this are the veterans. The ones who have lived through previous cycles, drawdowns, and boredom phases. When those veterans start increasing their research, watching more content, and paying closer attention, it is often a sign that the market is moving toward a better position. Sometimes even toward a bottom.
