The girl was walking through woodland on a public footpath near Maids Moreton Avenue, Page Hill, when she saw a man talking to himself between 1-2pm. As she walked past, the man grabbed her and tried to remove her clothing - but she fought him off and escaped. The offender is described as a black man, 20s, around 6ft tall, medium build, brown hair and a tattoo on the back of his hand. Man who subjected a woman to a brutal assault and rape has been jailed for more than 12 years. Simon Tang has been locked up for the attack near a car park in Birmingham Street, Walsall, on 5 May last year. During the brutal assault she was hit repeatedly with a baseball bat which Tang had got from the boot of his car, leaving her with extensive bruising to her legs and head before raping her. Tang, of Weoley Castle Road, Birmingham, was on Monday given a 12 and half-year jail term with an extended licence period by Birmingham Crown Court. He will be on the Sexual Offender Register for life.

In March 2026, two Romanian teenage boys were jailed for a combined 10 years at the same court after being convicted of multiple rapes, false imprisonment and sexual offences against women. Cases like these continue to fuel growing anger over repeat offending, soft sentencing and failures to remove foreign criminals from the streets. A manhunt for a rapist who fled justice midway through his trial is entering its second month. Jonas Amogbokpa, 55, kidnapped and raped a stranger in his car as she walked home in Lewisham.  The defendant, who was on bail, failed to attend the final days of his trial after giving evidence at Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday, February 11.  He was found guilty in his absence of rape and committing an offence of kidnapping with intent to commit a sexual offence.  A warrant was issued for his arrest and he remains on the loose one month on. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

A Moroccan invader, serving life for the murder of a Hartlepool pensioner, has been charged with attempted murder and assault of prison officers. Ahmed Ali Alid has been charged with attempted murder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. The incidents occurred at HMP Full Sutton on August 8, last year and at HMP Wakefield just over two months later. 47-year-old was convicted of the murder of 70 year old Terence Carney in a Hartlepool Street in October 2024.
