When reading the book “Viivi’s New Kamiik” written by Nadia Mike, 5th Block students used the Shape Go Map and Jennifer Serravallo’s “Act It Out to Storytell It” to demonstrate and extend understanding of the text. @TCDSB @JSerravallo

“Teaching Reading Is a Work of Heart” was the theme of our meeting. 5th Block Teachers put their heart into the day’s activities by sharing best practices, writing lesson plans for our new decodable books, and diving into Lindsay Kemeny’s “7 Mighty Moves”. @TCDSB @LindsayKemeny

Nic Stone is a bestselling author and an outspoken racial and social justice advocate. In her lectures, Nic draws from the themes in her books while stressing the need for equity, accountability, and empowerment in reshaping our society. Looking forward to her breakfast keynote!
