rewatched True Detective s1 before watching s4... yeah Pizz IS being a bitch: s4 is a good season. but... it's not great in context of THiS show. it's a phenomenal season of any other show, in the shadow of TD s1? it's fine. Pizz didn't even outdo his own show with s2 and 3.

@kmellon It's definitely where it turned, for me, to, "Oh, the dude is Greg Land. Got it got it got it."

@kmellon It was the part that made me realize all his Thomas Ligotti ripped dialogue for Cole was probably just hoping nobody would notice.

@gravelyunusual Deathstalker II is maybe my first memory of introducing a title with a pun. Something akin to "I'll get the jewel back...and Deathstalker too!" Cue title card. Blew my child mind.

@jukeboxcomix I had a similar experience with the exact same sites for Tether. Beat gave a glowing review for the entire mini & Journal ripped issue 1 apart. Can't remember it all but it assumed we had never read a non superhero comic.

There are 2 major written reviews of Eden II that exist right now. One is in The Beat and is glowing. I love how much personal thought went into it. The other is TCJ which misgendered the main character, didn’t understand the genre, and then had the gall to say the book was meh.

@REALSONICDANGER That's super weird and feels oddly late. Morrison's Doom Patrol from early Vertigo was riddled with that jazz. Ol Country Bumpkin me probably heard about it through them. Can't remember the issue but I know they put some sorta 'how to' in one issue.
