@HenshawAnalysis Don’t forget to network. Get out to games. Share work on linked in. Share useful knowledge with people in the industry. Most jobs go to a person already known to the hiring manager.

I've played 100s of matches in my life as a footballer. But there's one period in football which taught me the most. My time as a Academy player. Here's 5 Lessons that I learnt during this period...

To be an agent of a youth team player a prerequisite should be a minimum of working with young people in a non-football capacity for a substantial period of time (5-7 years) with a exemplary record of service. This would flush out those in it for a quick buck!

@sarahmo27070073 Hey Sarah, I have seen this also. I do sympathise with parents. Scouts have to be better, but they are under pressure to secure the best talent, a bit of a vicious cycle. PL and EFL academies can be better with the communication for sure and reduce the pressure on parents

@AcadFN It’s crazy and messaging out there is if you don’t do this you miss your chance. Along side the PL development centres and pre academies there are Lots of ‘self professed’ elite ‘academies’ making promises about getting scouts down to see the kids etc.

Spoke with a parent today, her son plays organised football 7 days a week at 5 different clubs (4 PL academies & his grassroots club) and he is an U7. The kid was beaming, playing with a smile on his face. But I couldn’t help but think, there has to be a better way

@AcadFN Our club offers times and field space for kids (or parents!) to gather for pickup games each week. No coaching. No agenda. No cost. We provide the time, location, goals, cones. Gives kids a place to go where they KNOW a game will be on. Up to 100 kids some nights!

The importance of a good loan to a career can’t be understated. Well done to the staff at Palace and Charlton, it takes two to make it work. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi nominated for EFL young player of the season. Scoring 13 goals and 6 assists in 38 games! Well done Jesurun ⭐️

@S_Marksberry I definitely hear you.. I think the key differences are when we were younger it was us and our mates just going to play. Rather than being coached. Plus the travel times, parents are racking up some serious mileage and time spent in the car.. Pick up games… interesting solution

@AcadFN Torn on this. 20 years ago, a kid playing on the streets or at the local park 7 days a week would not have been alarming. But daily kickabouts are hard to find these days. Should this kid play less just bc his generation plays less? Solution? Clubs could offer more pickup games🤷‍♂️
