No. Doing so will leave you unprotected.
1) Apply for the new plan first. Disclose your health history and wait for it to be approved.
2) Keep paying for both plans for 1-4 months. This will clear the new plan's 30-day waiting period and 120-day "specified illness" exclusions.
3) Once you are past the waiting period, only then do you cancel your old, expensive plan.
⚠️ But If you already have existing chronic illnesses (like diabetes or high blood pressure),
you must consult your agent first, as the new card will likely exclude them.
