@tenshi_anna If then metaphysical discourse speaks to conditions and grace that the one speaking about metaphysics has - you are speaking of them appealing to nature/supernature, and reception/enunciation qua intrinsic mode/dunamis, and you're firmly still within metaphysical discourse.

Truth is the adequation of mind to thing, of intellect to being. Since to think anything is necessarily to affirm it as true, truth itself is the inescapable condition of all thinking. Being is the horizon of all thought. To be is to truly be. To be is to thus be intelligible.

All claims that truth is relative, subjective, conditioned by biological, historical, cultural, linguistic, socio-economic conditions as to vitiate objectivity, undermines itself. After all, they are statements holding to be true of all knowledge and must be then objective truth!

Trads crashing out over Leo condemning an unjust war have the political understanding of a boomer evangelical except they slapped a Latin aesthetic on top of it.

The eminent Catholic natural law theorist Johannes Messner on the evil of preventive war, in his pre-Vatican II volume Social Ethics: Natural Law in the Western World (at pp. 667-68). The teaching of @Pontifex and @USCCB is traditional and has nothing at all to do with liberalism

If I am not mistaken you would have to jettison grace as extra nos, please note that the Seraphic Doctor in the Sentence Commentary Book IV says, as with here that the grace is infused and further that it makes the soul worth of eternal life. Further you would have to square this with his Papal ecclesiology in the Collationes in Hexaemeron and On Evangelical Perfection.

This is manifestly not the way St. Bonaventure or St. John of the Cross understand apophaticism. The Itinerarium and the entire Corpus of St. John (cf. St. Teresa Benedicta's Kreuzewissenschaft) that the Cross as an instrument of nulliform wisdom. x.com/pwhhjr/status/…

As far as I can see if you compare the Westminster Confession of Faith (27.3) which denies casual efficacy of grace to the sacraments, with the full passage (n. 4-5) from St. Bonaventure which attributed real instrumental efficacy a Presbyterian would be in theological error to hold to our Seraphic Doctor's Sentence. I would advise reading IV Sent, d. 12, p. II on Efficacy, or how the sacraments confer the gratia faciens they signify "in that it makes one worthy of eternal life" (d. 1, p. I, q. 6), which as far as I understand from WCF are likewise impermissible for a Presbyterian holding to the WCF. Please do correct me if I am misinterpreting your position! Nonetheless I always like seeing enthusiasm for the Seraphic Doctor! God keep you.
