She emphasized the need to build ethical partnerships in which African and Western heritage professionals collaborate on provenance research, co-develop exhibitions, and create new narratives that confront the brutal histories of slavery and colonialism.

She concluded that decolonizing the African-Western restitution space requires dismantling institutions that uphold colonial power structures and narratives.

Finally, her paper reflected on the research process itself, addressing what it means to undertake this work as an African scholar and envisioning a decolonial future for the project within the broader UK landscape of similar institutional research.
