I’ll never forget that Cody specifically told Triple H that he doesn’t want to be Stardust anymore and was told to “stop shooting so high.” I have never trusted him as I do think he is bitter toward the clean cut babyfaces.
Plus, the current state of things can’t be blamed on Vince. Cody managed to turn things around after dropping the title to Drew, which he wanted to do earlier. A booker that cared would put the belt on Randy and have Cody chase, instead he managed to fuck over Cody yet again. People don’t want to admit it but Vince booked Cody better.

Idk hurt their feelings I guess.
Obviously Cody isn’t the a Vince guy from the jump but when he became what he was he definitely fell into that category.
- Beat Seth 3 times in a row one with a torn pec
- Won the Rumble
- Should’ve won at Mania
- Went over on Brock twice
- His segments were better produced his direction was much more clear than it is now

@Jwrasslintakes Cody was a vince guy more than he's a HHH guy

I’m not sure why people are jumping on you for this like being a Cody fan is part of a cult/hive mind. Like you said, Vince loved the traditional babyface characters. That’s what he unsuccessfully tried to make Roman for years. Cody was that and Vince saw $. Cody went from beating Rollins with a torn pec to beating Brock relatively clean to facing Solo Sikoa. That says it all to me.

@chiefs_un1verse For sure.
Cody is the babyface prototype Vince has been looking for for years. Marketable, compelling, over as hell and the blonde hair and blue eyes definitely reaches Vince’s demo.

I hope you will read my musings above @CodyRhodes - I thought what better way to honour the 2nd anniversary of you finishing the story than to go back to “where it started”. Albeit, you might have an entirely different starting point but I like to look at this as the transition point - you recounting everything Dusty achieved as an active wrestler to then beginning your own story dedicated to Dusty.

The first public appearance of Cody Rhodes for the WWE was at the 2007 Hall of Fame, where he joined his brother Dustin to induct their father, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes.
At only 21 years of age, Cody carried the emotional weight of honouring his father in front of a crowd of passionate fans and great legends. The grace, eloquence and strength of his delivery was a preview of what a wonderful storyteller he’d become. He stood out as someone who had the makings of a future FOTC.
Cody’s story, this speech and the way he speaks about Dusty generally resonates with me so deeply as it’s everything I have come to appreciate in my own parents. It is a reminder that everything I have, including what I once credited solely to my own efforts, was in actuality built on the foundation provided for me by my parents through everything they taught me. I am forever grateful and driven to honour them by fulfilling dreams they could not reach themselves due to the sacrifices they made for me.
All of this is what makes Cody’s journey so incredibly special and the greatest story pro-wrestling has told. Setting out to achieve for your parents what you think they deserve. It’s real and relatable. Thank you for this.

@BlazedApplesYT @CodyRhodes That’s pretty awesome and not surprising at all. Cody spoke so eloquently without being thrown off by the interruptions. I would imagine it was pretty intimidating even when speaking from the heart. I have no idea how they didn’t plan to make him Cena’s replacement down the line.

@AlexaLLRx @CodyRhodes There's a clip somewhere of Cena saying he took a liking to Cody after this speech I just don't know where to find it

@BlazedApplesYT Cody was already in OVW at the time but maybe this speech helped him debut on the main roster as he started a few months later (July 2 or 3, I believe).
The Cena thing I didn’t know. I can imagine him thinking “fine speech” and really meaning it. @CodyRhodes
English

@AlexaLLRx Didn't Cody say this speech helped him get hired or something like that? I know John Cena said he was really impressed and saw Cody's potential here.
English

@wrestlingwkayla He’s such a baby angel. Best moment in wrestling for me.
