I made my first suit in 2009. Many more has followed since then. Today I made the heartbreaking decision to scrap an almost finished project and start over. We are talking 99% complete fursuit head. Why did I decide to toss a practically finished head? Because it was not living up to my standards. Because sometimes a “little fix” turns into a full blow disaster. Does it suck? Big time. Over a weeks worth of work down the drain. But I know making this choice will be the better option long term both for the client and me. So to everyone out there feeling like your failing as a maker remember this: Experience doesn’t mean you never fail. It means having the courage to admit when something isn’t up to your standard and the determination to fix your mistakes. Learn from them. Grow. Your mistakes don’t define you. Your response to them does. So keep going. One stitch at a time. You’ve got this
