The Silent Service I recently visited HM Naval Base Clyde to meet the sailors, submariners, engineers and civilian staff who keep our continuous at sea deterrent running. It was great to be back…I served here as a young Marine in 2000 (yes, I am that old). The work ongoing here in Faslane is more impressive than you can imagine. Whilst so much is going on in the world, it’s worth remembering that every hour of every day, of every year, the silent service is deep below the ocean’s waves keeping us safe ⬇️

It was reported that McSweeney's work (Govt phone) has highly sensitive contact numbers and messages on was stolen. The @metpoliceuk transcript shows that McSweeney never informed the call handler of the sensitivity of this. Did McSweeney, using his personal phone, call No10 to alert them, and for them to contact the police? This #Mandelson affair under @Keir_Starmer & @uklabour stinks to high heaven from the beginning, and we haven't even reached the end..

A meeting of the Joint Expeditionary Force will be held in Helsinki tomorrow. The JEF is a military partnership of 10 northern European countries. Its aim is to be able to take action quickly and effectively in the event of a crisis, both independently and in cooperation with organisations such as NATO and the United Nations. Ahead of the summit, I met with President @alexstubb of Finland this evening. The Netherlands and Finland have excellent relations and are like-minded countries in areas such as European security, the rule of law and human rights. We discussed the vital support for Ukraine, strengthening Europe’s role in NATO, and our concerns regarding developments in the Middle East. Afterwards I attended a working dinner with President Stubb, Prime Minister @jonasgahrstore of Norway and Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir of Iceland. We discussed the good cooperation between the Netherlands and the Nordic countries.

@Reuters It is right that Finland and Sweden are now in Nato, along with fellow Norther Europeans. And thankfully the UK is closer to fellow Europeans again too. Better together and cooperating synergistically 🇮🇸🇳🇴🇫🇮🇸🇪🇩🇰🇬🇧
