This has become a hot topic, more context needs to be added. It has only become a debate because we banned a content creator. It blows my mind it's even a debate. We ban thousands daily for cheating, no one blinks, we're told we need to take a tougher stance, do more, ban more, do better - We're trying. We ban a content creator and it's now urged by many we should give out warnings, have gentle chats before we issue bans to users who knowingly and willingly use third party applications to gain an unfair advantage. Let's be clear: no one is above the rules. The creator knew that it was against the TOS, it was clarified to him 15th Nov, to which he replied with "noted". Recently the creator in question said "truthfully im not going stop using it" Circumventing game mechanics with any third-party applications is cheating, most certainly when someone streams themselves using a third-party application to gain an advantage, we can't and will not ignore it. Do we catch and ban everyone cheating? No, but we usually eventually catch up in the ever changing cat and mouse game of anticheat. If we have evidence such as broadcasting yourself to thousands cheating, we will act. Many Rust creators have disappeared from the community with little to no notice over the past 10 years, with channels of over 400k subs because they got banned, they accepted the punishment and quietly disappeared. It's not easy to ban creators. We love them and want to support them as they support Rust. We're aware that this would strip them of a job, income, and protection, but we can't allow that to affect the integrity of what we do. Ultimately, no one is above the rules, creator or not.
