After 3 years of heroic and lifesaving work by our nation’s infectious disease physicians, seeing several tweets from top-notch ID fellowship programs that didn’t fill their match speaks volumes about how screwed up our system of rewarding doctors is.

@SBtotheDub Good points. Murderous clowns in the 18th and 19th centuries led to my being an American descended from 3 different Irish lineages - and to Tasmania being home to my 5th cousins and a beach bearing my family name. Typical diaspora story, but often forgotten.

As an ID doctor- how do you handle recurrent uti referrals? Let's say they're already going to see urology, already on vaginal estrogen cream, already referred to urogyn, but then someone slips in ID referral, but I rarely rx chronic abx suppression. Idk my role sometimes.

RivCo Public Health is reporting nine new confirmed/probable Monkeypox cases. All are men from the Coachella Valley between 30 and 70 years of age. Total now is 51 confirmed/probable cases in Riverside County.

Although long-acting CAB/RPV is FDA-approved only for PWH w/ viral suppression, this remarkable case series (new in @CIDJournal) shows it can work also in those with viremia -- where it could be a life-saving intervention. Clinical trials urgently needed. doi.org/10.1093/cid/ci…

The @CDCgov (which I love) is blatantly misleading the public—CDC tells hospitals about aerosol risks of #monkeypox and need for N95 masks. Yet @CDCDirector deliberately downplays aerosols & masks in messages to the lay public. Shameful.
