I've been speaking with reporters about digital #censorship in India since 2008. This is the first time since then that the govt has engaged in such expansive online censorship and I've not been inundated with calls about it. There's a distinct shift in press freedom. #FoE

@AroonDeep My biggest fear is that the elected govt might want something, but the unelected does something else. They may not be in sync with one another

A lot of us are worried about sovereign AI and how needs to have its own foundational model like Claude or ChatGPT I am not worried about that I am sure it is only a matter of time before we launch our own model My worry is that after we do, the GST department will send a notice to the company asking if it is a product or a service, then file a case for GST circumvention and avoidance and seek damages, penalty and interest on that penalty. And then the company will spend the rest of the year fighting this case instead of improving the model Our Foundational model aspirations won't get throttled because of lack of capital. They will be sunk by the iceberg of our Bereaucracy
