When you look back at this year, what do you wish you had done differently for your art practice? More time in the studio? More growth? More shows? More clarity about what you're working toward? More support when things feel stuck? More guidance from teachers who've already walked this path? More professional guidance on the business side of art? Artist Commons is designed to support your art practice with all of that and more. As a year-long online program, Artist Commons pairs you with a mentor and a small cohort for consistent and actionable feedback on your work, introduces you to visiting artists whose careers can act as a kind of roadmap for how you might tackle the art world yourself, and guest lecturers from professionals across the gallery and museum world. If you're looking for this kind of support, apply by January 10 to lock in the one-time-only founding cohort member tuition rate of $1,850 before the price increases to $2,400 later this year. You've heard this kind of marketing copy before, but this is the real skinny: this price will NOT come around again. So if cost is a concern, give your art the year it deserves and apply today.

Experimentation requires materials. Supply run complete. Many of the lectures and conversations we’ve had thus far in the @Artist_Commons program have made me reflect on where my work fits in the grand scheme of things. It’s worth mulling over my while I paint

@EfdotStudio @boywithnolegs The need is real! Artists want community feedback, and direction. We’re fortunate to be able to offer all three. No surprise other people are thinking in this vein too. It’s much needed.

Extremely thankful and excited for my inclusion in this @Artist_Commons. We just had the first themed lecture today and couldn’t imagine how good it would be. This is only the first week and already amazed. @HaiverArt has gone above and beyond. Thank you for all the effort and care. It’s really amazing.

This week we held our kick-off events for @Artist_Commons and welcomed forty students into our year-long program. It's been months of non-stop admissions interviews with prospective students and reviewing applications from almost a hundred art historians and other professors for various lecturer positions ranging from craft and creativity to the business of art. How odd it feels then that today is my first day in 2026 without a Zoom call. It's a milestone to mark the distance travelled. We've been sprinting to get Artist Commons up and running for so long (which is really just sprinting to the starting line of the program itself) and I'm so grateful to be doing this. I could not be more excited for everything that's ahead for our first batch of cohorts this year.

I'm excited to announce @Artist_Commons' first two Visiting Artists in Residence! One of my favorite things about designing our artist development program was finding a way to put students in close contact with established contemporary artists actively shaping the field. Visiting artists each spend about five weeks with the program's students presenting their body of work, giving a craft workshop, answering questions from students, and doing a candid interview about what it means to build a longterm career in the arts. So for our winter quarter, our Visiting Artists in Residence are: Jenn & Kevin McCoy The McCoys are a landmark duo in media art. They've produced influential works that bridge cinema, software, and installation. For decades, they have helped define what “moving image” means inside contemporary art. Kevin is also famous for creating what many consider to be the first, or one of the first, NFT works of art back in 2014. Working across mediums, their practice is a masterclass in how to build ambitious work that is both formally inventive and intellectually sharp. Mitchell F. Chan As a conceptual artist, Chan has been showing work around the world for almost two decades. His pieces often examine questions around value, institutions, and the strange ways meaning gets assigned in culture. From endlessly moving sculptures to interactive video games, his work raises important questions about what contemporary art will look like, and how it can address the contemporary moment, as we continue to move deeper into the 21st century. ⏀ The year-long @Artist_Commons program starts on Sunday, January 18. If you're interested in learning from these amazing artists, there's still two days left to apply for the Late Admissions Deadline. Or sign up below to learn more about the program👇

@Alecness1 @HaiverArt @exchgART @JTLissPhotoArt It's an online program. All of the events take place live over streaming video meetings and webinar sessions. We really wanted to make the program accessible. And it worked. We have applicants from over twenty-five different countries.

It's been an absolute joy this week to notify applicants to @Artist_Commons that they received a scholarship for our year-long program. Huge thanks to Exchange Art and their President J.T. Liss for their generous donation of a full scholarship. You are literally changing people's lives. We still have several artists who won't be able to participate in the program — which starts next week — unless we can raise some additional scholarship funds. If you're in a position to help, DM us and we can give you more details. As the quote goes: Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Less than 24 hours left to apply. If you started an application, get it in ASAP If part of your New Year's resolutions included making more work, building more structure into your practice, getting better feedback, and learning to navigate the art world, then Artist Commons is for you. The program starts January 18 with a kickoff event. I guess be there or be square?

I've had so much fun this week doing admissions interviews for @Artist_Commons applicants. It's been inspiring to get to know the work of artists based all over the world. Last week I Zoomed with artists in New York, Lagos, Mexico City, Sydney, Tbilisi, Tehran, Portland, Kandy, and Santiago. We're going to have such an incredible year spending time together each week in our cohorts sharing work, listening to presentations, and nurturing each others' art practice. If that piques your interest, there's less than 24 hours left to apply, so finish up that application ASAP ;)
