@CooperOshae Cross is Harrison Smith and they used him all over too. That is why I’m annoyed with the box safety discussions. If he’s always the box safety it defeats the purpose of a disguised look. He has to be able to move around to prevent the tendency on the tape.

Oohhh no. We have Nick Cross for that. Don’t forget we have a hybrid on the third level. Having both of them allows for us to not have to use Cross in the box a lot and Sonny on the backend much. That is the beauty of having two chess pieces.

210-215 from what I researched. They beefed him up for sure. They said because he was big they just had to move him to linebacker to take advantage of the athleticism at that position. His coverage grade on TEs in the overhang was elite. So they used him to erase TEs and the RB. I see him doing a lot of that in the role. Not sure he can do everything Metellus does but in terms of being the versatile chess piece. Yes.

@Reez_Delaghetto @CooperOshae He could also play the Will to your point and then you can kick Luvu inside. So there is a lot of subpackage deployment. I just remember in the presser DQ said Sonny will play both the ILB roles.

Yes. I know Josh Metellus is a “box safety”. He’s a hybrid. He has linebacker traits. What he does in that Flores scheme is actually amoeba like. It is positionless. The player has to be able to play every position. It is Sonny. The ability to play inside linebacker is a position that the role has to align to.

Aye y’all we running an odd front. So that is 3 linemen. DE, NT, DT. 2ILB (Sonny and Chenal) OLB/Edge and OLB (Luvu). The two ILB alignment allows us to use Sonny as a chess piece (hence he’s the Josh Metellus). We are not running the base out of a 4-3.
