@GolfChannel Nothing will come close to the 1986 Masters. To even suggest last year’s Masters is the best is heresy.

@corkifephotogr1 You have to imagine we’ve offered a deal to JCM given his form for us + U21’s? Hopefully we receive a development fee if he does move on.

@AskKP I really hope we get a few guys tied up now we are clear of relegation (sound daft given we are 4th but we are closer on points to RC than Partick). I expect Mullen to leave but hopefully we get the two keys players Matty and Kieran signed up.

@Only1tommo Why does everyone get so bent out of shape about Fabrizio Romano? He just tweets football news. Who cares?

@sportscaddy I don’t think I understand your point(s). Mancini etc were definitely appointed via the same nepotistic “politics” you suggest have alienated Del Piero, Baggio etc. You’re making multiple points at once which all ignore that Italy have had very recent success as national side.

@AskKP Italy won the Euro with a core group of players who all coalesced at the same time. Mancini and Vialli helped create an incredible team environment. That happened in spite of very real structural limitations.

The frustrating thing about Italy missing a third straight World Cup isn't just that Italy missed another World Cup. It's that so many people will have good ideas about how to improve things, pitching ways to fundamentally change a system that has allowed this venerable establishment to atrophy, and none of it will matter. The same arrogant charlatans who've witnessed this catastrophe over and over again will continue to drive Italian football into the ground. It's the helplessness that really grinds. It's only been a few hours and FIGC president Gabriele Gravina is already trying his best to maintain the status quo. He has normalized the very embarrassing reality of missing a World Cup. But he is only one of the many self-important people in the FIGC who make a mockery of the Italian game. His overall apathy is a part of a broader pattern of conceit that has discouraged input from the likes of Roberto Baggio, and more recently ostracized Alessandro Del Perio, Paolo Maldini, and Carlo Ancelotti. The FIGC isn't interested in talking to the people who matter because they'll make the people who think they matter look silly. It's a power struggle as old as time: Politics hold back the Italian game, and as long as the same rotation of political opportunists control it, Italy will never regain its place. These people, who pat each other on the back and hire their friends and act as if they have royal assent, hold hostage a team that really belongs to the tens of millions of Italians who have lost another opportunity to show their pride on the global stage. We can't talk about the shortcomings in youth development, or the overemphasis on individual tactics, or the abandonment of defensive principles, until these people are gone.

@Leaferbyblood @romanocalcio @sportscaddy Winning Euro 2021 was a generational achievement. Runners up in 2012 too. Most countries will never do it. Is it possible you’re being too hard on them? Also foreign starters in the lineup is irrelevant. How many French players were starting for PSG? 3 maybe.

@AskKP @romanocalcio @sportscaddy They lost. They've lost to Sweden, Macedonia and now Bosnia in important matches. They also got their asses handed to them by Norway, twice. Inter being in the CL final with 10 foreign starters is meaningless and 2021 was lightning in a bottle. We cant ignore the problems anymore
