Flying high into the postseason

I have an employer who devotes a lot of resources to get the best coverage it can of a team that the Albuquerque community cares about deeply, and has for generations. I am lucky as hell to have this job. As such, it would be selfish of me to just shut up and not speak up when things are happening that could affect in any way my ability to give our readers/viewers the absolute best coverage I can. That literally is my job. So to be silent would be selfish of me. If that comes out as whining, that's OK. A journalist not speaking up about access questions is more an issue to me than one who does, but I wholeheartedly understand why nobody outside of journalism should care about this. The tournament is going to be great. My concerns have been voiced, and I've fought for my employer and the people who follow my coverage. And guess what, the Mountain West has listened. I would have loved for all of this to have come about a different way. But oh well. I'm done with seat gate talk and will cover the tournament next week from wherever they sit me, and absolutely will speak up again when I feel media was cut out of a process affecting our ability to bring great coverage to our customers. I'm not here to win any popularity contests. All good. Games on! #Drink
