I’m no longer posting on what was once Twitter, firming up a choice I made a year ago. I’ll be on Blue Sky under the same name. bsky.app/profile/bbcdom… My DMs remain open here for private correspondence. Better still: linktr.ee/bbcdomc

@nottmtails Surely the club can aim big and tempt Klopp to swap his multi million Majorca paradise pad for those fancy pants apartments opposite the Trent End?!? Five mins walk to a chippy too. No brainer.

The BBC, in association with Agence France-Presse, the Associated Press, and Reuters, has launched a short film calling on the Israeli authorities to allow international journalists access to Gaza. Read more: bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/20…

The law does not say this. It says that jail is the starting point *before the judge deducts for any mitigation and guilty plea*. But more importantly this was not a Crown Court sentence so Tom Tugendhat’s complaint cannot be acted on.

This is simply wrong from Rishi Sunak. As @charlie_taylor6's report on HMP Lewes found, high-risk prisoners are being released early under the scheme. This included a prisoner who was deemed a risk specifically to children, with a history of stalking, domestic abuse and being subject to a restraining order: hmiprisons.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/hmipris_report…

Keir Starmer goes in on the prisons crisis as lower level defendants are released on police bail without hearings after jails ran out of space Some prisoners will be freed up to 70 days early after ministers to ease overcrowding crisis Rishi Sunak says that no-one who poses a risk to public safety will be released

A few years ago, Westminster magistrates court downgraded the press room from a large area (with a view) to a small, windowless room. We complained, but adjusted Now they are taking away our chairs. We are down to two, including one inexplicably bolted to the floor.

What an utter (self-inflicted) mess this government has got itself into over #Rwanda. Good commentary from @BBCDomC (3 years below me at Benedicts?) and as ever, @ChrisMasonBBC. Suspect #PM will survive, for now. Alternative is too awful for Tory MPs to contemplate @BBCNews

Would honestly swap the Elgin Marbles for something more interesting, eg discount holidays to Greece, come on tell me I’m wrong

@BBCDomC @AdamWagner1 You probably recall the detail better than me but I suspect he jumped before he was pushed. A credible assurance that torture evidence would be excluded left him no other option. Issues on Rwanda are much broader and compliance will be much harder to achieve.

Correct. If a binding Treaty can correct the defects found by the Supreme Court (as Theresa May achieved with Jordan in the Abu Qatada case), the Rwanda scheme is free to proceed legally. /1
