@idanlandau ונראה לי שמה שמוסיף לבלבול - בכל אופן, לאנגלית הקלוקלת - זה פסוקית ההסגר "..and any other"' , שאם מנסים להבין את פסוקית הזיקה כמאייכת אותה, אפשר לקבל *רק* פירוש מגביל, כי ביטוי מכומת לא סובל זיקה לא מגבילה. איזה בלאגן מפואר.

@DaniilAltshuler Not sure if this is relevant, but Zoost Zwarts has a number of papers (some with Yoad Winter, and others) on spatial (formal) semantics. For example: dspace.library.uu.nl/bitstream/hand…

Does anyone know of any work that deals with *spatial* perspective in formal semantics? Like left, right, beyond etc.?  Thanks!

@David_Erschler yes, it's fine for me in Hebrew with "I love you" antecedent. But I know people who find it odd (also in English)

An odd sloppy-reading Georgian ellipsis: (a scene in a TV series, a couple are quarreling A: ar gabedo ʧem-tan darek’va NEG you.dare.OPT me-with call.NMZ ‘Don’t dare call me!’ B: arʦ ʃen neither you ‘Neither you!’ I wonder if this is possible in English 1/2

@David_Erschler I personally find them pretty marginal (in Hebrew too), except for a number of often-used (and perhaps frozen) collocations, the most prominent of which is -"I love you" -"I do too".

@David_Erschler This construction has been studied by Isabelle Charnavel under the name super-sloppy readings. It's not so clear to me how productive it is in English. If I remember correctly I think she reports a great deal of speaker variation on such cases. academic.oup.com/jos/article/36…

MIT didn’t want to punish antisemitic foreign students harassing American Jews on campus because suspension would lead to deportation under the student visa rules. So MIT chose to help the antisemites instead of punishing them. Morality run amok. MIT is one of the most prestigious universities in the US. These days, foreigners make up about 30% of the MIT student body. Jewish students, on the other hand, make up about 6% of the MIT student body — a campus minority.
