The politics isn't the reason why season 27/28 is mostly unfunny and bad, it's because they're relying too much on the Trump humor which has been done to death since season 20 rather than trying something new (like the specials earlier this decade) or going back to basics.
We just want normal South Park episodes again with the boys hanging out with each other and getting into all sorts of shenanigans.

@_themicrula @YumisLittleFan @ArtieReviews That's true. Fox decided to stop putting effort into those later releases to cut costs on production. Anything after Vol. 8 was manufactured on demand via Amazon.
This similarly happened to Bob's Burgers, The Cleveland Show and Brickleberry to the best of my knowledge.
