People ask why a former chief of staff #USSenate #USHouse is helping #scientists get their voices heard. I’ve talked about the many reasons why, but not this personal one: Science saved my son’s life.

@Leadpages live chat support has been amazing since I first became a customer years ago. Trying to use chat now and getting unhelpful bot answers. What’s up with that?

@naqed_val @catgyoung The good news is scientists can become compelling storytellers - it does require normalizing communication as an important skill for scientists.

@BayerStrategic @catgyoung Simple, humans are wired to listen to/believe stories. Statistically, scientist are not that great at storytelling - some exemptions confirm the rule

@catgyoung Thank, Catherine. The work you and your colleagues do is so vital! My TL;DR to the question: Activate your whole self to explain your work to non-scientists. Connect before you communicate. “Scientist’ literally means ‘knowledge artist.” Use your artistry to enlighten.

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my promotion to Assistant Vice Provost of Doctoral and Postdoctoral Life Design at Johns Hopkins University. What the heck does this mean and why does it matter? I’ve shared what I wrote on Linkedin below! 👇🏽 TLDR; representation matters. :)

@AudreyStJames1 Isn’t that why so many of our parents/grandparents/great grandparents came to the US? Why the presumption of guilt towards immigrants these days - because many are people from Latin America not Whites from Europe?
