For those not in the know… -The whales of this game are basically crazy mail order brides / gold diggers of their loser (but rich) husbands in China. They have lots of money, time and are very toxic to players in and out of China. Ironically, much of the money for this Otome game still technically comes from men (well, on the China side, not the case worldwide) -These insane girls, whom even MY yellow fever when I was single decades ago won’t touch, will do nasty things against the promotions of guys in the game they don’t ship. - A new love interest was introduced that looked a bit like he catered to western tastes (but honestly not really) They got so toxic that they caused the company to fold and cancel all of the hard work done by devs, artists and promoters for this new character; werewolf/dog boy named Valkos. -To fight back against the toxic CN girls, the international fans are taking arms by review bombing the game. A bit of a double edge sword but in this case maybe can help reverse and shame the mail order brides of CN who started this whole issue I know much about this as I’ve tracked much of the game since its start as it was made in Unity and (unlike games here in the west) ACTUALLY catered to women correctly in the ways studios try to and horribly fail here. It’s a wonderfully done game honestly with lots of love end effort and understanding of actual girl gamers. My wife is a huge fan of it and personally it has interestingly helped improve our relationship as a couple as it showed me ways I can be a better man. (I’m supposedly very much like Zayne lol) It’s an interesting case as it’s the opposite of the problems we’ve seen in the past decade in the west with games where studios here cater to a loud toxic minority that doesn’t even play games to spite those who actually pay & play (due to marketing & journalists in the western arena not being actual gamers). There it’s a company that knows gamers and particularly girl gamers very well and builds for them as western studios can only dream. Problem there is that the most toxic players are sadly rich mental ill CN girl players who have nothing better to do. It’s a case study in seeing what would happen if the bulk of the paying players are they themselves the most toxic (something the western journalists wrongly accused gamers here for) Sad to see it in this state right now and I hope the international fans help fix what non toxic fans both in and out of CN have been doing. I say this as a developer and voice actor…LADS deserves to continue the roadmap they had originally set out and should ignore the toxic players in CN. They created something the western studios only dreamed they could have, something great for actual women gamers.
