Josh Heupel has earned goodwill at Tennessee, whether people are prepared in the here and now to accept that or not. He's earned the right to fix this stuff. But it absolutely must be fixed. Can't happen again next season. Defense and special teams must improve.

Even once the instant postgame emotions of a rare loss to Vandy settle, the reality is Tennessee needs to be better than this on defense and special teams. The injuries on defense were a legit issue, but this staff has been here too long to put that kinda defense on the field.
