Why Conservatives are all about “owning the libs”. The Kings of the castle are furious that the castle now has a front door instead of a drawbridge. For most of American history, straight white men, even the broke ones, could still boss around wives, kids, and anyone with melanin. Over the past century that cheat code got patched: women vote, Black folks can buy houses in any zip code, kids have rights, and society now asks that you don’t misgender the barista. Healthy men adapt. Fragile ones treat equality like a hostile takeover. Cue the grievance-industrial complex, pumping daily outrage steroids into a demographic that thinks respect is a zero-sum game. Some cling to the fantasy of “taking it all back,” others know the game is over and just want to flip the board so nobody else gets to play. And that, friends, is why the conservative pastime of choice is “owning the libs”. If they can’t rule the kingdom anymore, they’ll gladly burn your lawn just to prove they still own the matches.
