They take a big cut (like 30%) from every app's profits and make strict rules that often block or limit crypto apps, especially ones with real payments, NFTs, trading, or DeFi stuff. It's super hard to get full-featured crypto apps approved and out there without getting censored or neutered. @solanamobile solves this by putting its own dApp store right on its phones (like the new Seeker), where developers face almost no fees, no heavy restrictions, and can build whatever Web3 apps they want. This lets users get the real crypto experience without the middleman drama. It has the newer Seeker phone, plus its own dApp store where apps run with almost no fees for developers, built-in hardware wallet, security for wallets and keys, and now the $SKR token that's live as of today (January 21, 2026) to reward people building, using, and even making the hardware. The guy behind a lot of this vision is Anatoly Yakovenko @toly the co-founder of Solana. What makes him stand out is that he spent about 13 years working at Qualcomm, the company that makes the chips and tech inside tons of phones. He helped build operating systems for old flip phones, worked on wireless stuff, and optimized code to run super fast on devices that didn't have much power. That real-world experience with mobile hardware and making things efficient is probably why Solana Mobile feels like it has a real shot at growing. It's not just some crypto idea; it's coming from someone who actually knows how phones work and how to scale them. At @AstrolabBuilder , we're doing our part by making simple, classic casual and hyper-casual games that are just fun to play. No heavy finance grinding or anything like that. Think quick puzzles, bubble shooters, tic-tac-toe battles, stuff you pick up for a few minutes when you're bored. We put them on the Solana Mobile dApp store, and we use Solana lightly in the background so players can own their achievements, high scores, or little unlocks as NFTs if they want. It's all about bringing more normal, enjoyable games to the platform so it feels less like a crypto tool and more like a regular app store with some cool ownership perks. Astrolab Season 1 Recap Season 1 of @solanamobile Seeker just wrapped up, and with TGE happening tomorrow, we wanted to share a quick recap of what we built and what happened along the way. During Season 1, Astrolab shipped 9 apps on Solana Mobile dApp Store. 8 of them are classic and retro satisfying games. 1 is a Solana onchain tool, the token account rent reclaimer app. Here is how Season 1 looked for us: • 19,378 total users across all apps • 7,894 reviews with an average rating of 4.2 • 1,128,167 ad requests served • 1,615 NFTs minted to unlock premium Beyond our own apps, we also contributed to the @Seeker_Tracker Android version and were rewarded with a Solana Mobile device from the Seeker Tracker team. That meant a lot to us. Our main goal was simple. Build familiar, satisfying games that feel good to play, work great on Solana Mobile, and respect users. Seeing people enjoy the games, leave reviews, and come back daily made all the effort worth it. Season 1 was just the beginning.
