One of my other ghost experiences was in Harpers Ferry. It was after dark, and there was an unoccupied building (unoccupied according to my friend who was showing me around). In an upper window there was an odd bluish light, and I could see the shadow of a person on the window shade. I don't count this as a "for sure" sighting because I suppose there are other ways to produce an odd blue light, and maybe someone had entered the building at 11:30 at night for some reason. It was pretty creepy though, and I admit we didn't go over to check on the building. I think this below is the building, but I don't actually remember to be sure.

How I saw a ghost. (Many have asked for this story.) The first time I saw a ghost was my only unambiguous sighting. I had 4 other sightings since, but they can be explained away with mental gymnastics. At the first sighting, I was 11 years old. My friends and I were fascinated by an abandoned house in the neighborhood, and we thought/hoped it was haunted. We even built a little clubhouse in the attic, where we read monster magazines and pored over our sole copy of Playboy. I mention this because I think it psychologically prepped me. One day, after dark, I was walking home in our neighborhood. A slight bit of mist was in the air; unusual for Utah. As I started down the street, lo and behold, right under a streetlight, was a misty white figure of a woman. The exact position I stood in is in the photo below from Google Street View. Of course, this is 60 years later. But unless the streetlight was moved, that’s the place. 1/5

@tuuu28283 Hey, me too! But on the plus side, if we get in a fight, we can punch a dude in the crotch without having to bend down. That's something, right?

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve thought, “I wish I had the height and strength of my American brothers and sisters” when carrying something heavy or dealing with tough situations. 😆 You all seem built like superheroes sometimes!

@tuuu28283 Home prices in California are truly absurd. I cannot speak on the taxes and other costs of living. But I can tell you one thing- I will never willingly go there to find out the hard way.

Is California really as expensive as people say, or is it a little exaggerated? What are some examples? Like, what’s something that would surprise an outsider?

Evil only uses logic to twist for justification of things evil has already done. Evil does not decide what to do by logic, but rather by the conscious decision to advance its own power through the suffering of the innocent. You cannot understand evil people by looking for logic in their decisions. In order to understand evil people, you have to accept that they know they are doing harm and are comfortable doing so in order to gain power for themselves. Then everything makes sense. They are not insane. They are evil.

Maybe if it were the daughter of a people who had spent generations killing your ancestors, I could at least understand where the hostility comes from. But she is a British girl. Your own people. And yet the police seem far more concerned about protecting Muslims from criticism than protecting a British girl from harm. This is the part Japanese people cannot understand. Not by one micron. How can you look at your own citizens and decide they come second? How can you see a young British girl suffer and worry more about the reaction of others? In Japan, people would be furious. Many would rather walk away from their jobs than take part in something like that. So from a Japanese perspective, the question is simple: What on earth has happened to Britain?

@JScripko Yep, that's fair. There would be an affirmative defense for an inadequate length on-ramp. But there would also be a law requiring governing agencies to re-engineer inadequate length on-ramps.

@Blue__Squire This is true only for properly designed modern ramps. I've seen plenty of older ramps where a Tesla in Ludicrous mode wouldn't be able to reach highway speed by the end of the ramp.

When I am emperor: 1. This will be a mandatory question on the driving exam. If you get that question wrong, you do not get a license (no matter what your overall score is). 2. Police will be directed to ticket anyone who reaches the end of the on-ramp without reaching highway speeds. 3. Pleading guilty/being found guilty/failing to appear for court on such a violation will automatically invalidate your driver's license. You will not be able to get a license after that until you re-take drivers training and pass the driving test. 4. Subsequent violations will permanently invalidate your driver's license. 5. Accidents caused by this will result in charges of intentional vehicular assault/homicide. This includes cases where the person who did not reach highway speeds is not directly involved in the accident, but was the proximate cause of the accident.

The poster is not using the intellect of a 7 year old. They know every inaccuracy in their statement. They know the answers to their "questions". They are hoping that the reader has the intellect of a 7 year old. It is well past time that we stop excusing malice as stupidity. Socialists are not stupid, they are evil. Stop treating villains as rascals.

Because I buy good coffee. Not the swill that people trying to prove how macho they are will brag about. Not the mass-produced garbage that gets sold in bulk containers on grocery store shelves. I found two small coffee roasteries who import and roast the beans, then bag them and deliver them. Both offer spectacular coffee so good that it does not need anything added to taste great - and both offer a variety of flavors. Both can be ordered off their websites. One of them will ship anywhere in the continental US, I'm not positive about the other. If you want to give them a shot: dragonroast.coffee incognitacoffee.com

Not as many as in Europe, to be sure. Not as few as Europeans like to imagine. In the USA, American Football is definitely the most watched sport. The second tier of popularity include baseball, basketball and hockey. Soccer is very popular with Hispanic portion of the American population - likely because they (or their parents or grandparents) came from countries where soccer is the most popular sport. But, soccer is growing in popularity. Speaking for myself, I can't bring myself to care which team beats another in any sport. With no investment in the outcome, watching sports quickly becomes extremely dull. But with that said, soccer is one of the least boring sports to watch because it keeps moving constantly and every goal matters. Now, in my view, a great sport that I can watch for hours is Recortes, but sadly we don't have that sport in the USA. As far as I can tell, it is only popular in Spain. youtube.com/watch?v=cZIWEr…

I’m curious how many people in America actually watch soccer. In Japan, a lot of people don’t usually watch soccer, but when the World Cup comes around, suddenly everyone gets excited about it! ⚽🇯🇵🇺🇸

Assuming you are competent, yes. With a snub-nose, it is also excellent for concealed carry. But depending on the model, and the grips you have on it, and the ammo you load, it probably will kick like a mule - which can be less than fun at the range, but you won't even notice if you really need it to defend yourself.
