#THANNTimeSpaceandMatterTeaser #THANNxKengNamping I’ve been working on it for quite some time… the analysis of the core idea of “Time, space and matter” trailer and why this campaign doesn’t feel like an AD at all but a piece of cinema. It is all because this trailer is doing something way more profound than average branded short. And this is why we all feel such a deep admiration to it. It’s not just pitching a product or leaning on a basic romance to keep us watching. Instead, it builds this incredible sensory world where memory, emotion, and identity are all tied together by scent. The heart of the story is the idea that time, space, and matter are active forces we can actually touch, change, and revisit through our senses. The repetition in the music is doing some heavy lifting here and makes us hold our breath. Beautiful ost says “Even if you’re gone from here, your shadow stays, your scent is near” and “Are you still here?”. They set the rules for this universe: even when a person is physically gone, a part of them lingers. The “shadow” and especially the “scent” act as footprints of someone's existence. It basically frames fragrance as a form of matter that refuses to give in to time or distance. Time moves on and space creates gaps, but scent stays behind as a steady bridge to our emotions. This fits perfectly with the brand’s philosophy. The cream isn't presented as just another cosmetic, it is shown as a medium, almost like a hard drive for our feelings. It suggests that a scent can hold onto something intangible and release it later… when the moment is right. This is backed up by the dialogue: “The scent shall bring us back.” Visually, the trailer plays with a layered timeline… the costume changes are a big clue here. The ornate, traditional styles point to a past that is about where everything started. Then there’s this middle layer of the story where objects and gestures feel heightened, like a memory space where the characters are trying to piece things back together. Finally, the present day is quieter and more restrained. You can see it in the characters, too: one seems grounded and certain, while the other is kind of disoriented, which hits home when we hear the line that is said by Ake: “Can you not recall anything?” We can tell even without an analysis that the story that emerges is truly beautiful: Than and Aek share a deep bond from the past that was somehow broken… whether by distance, loss, or something else. In the present, one of them is the anchor. He still knows, he still feels it, and he’s trying to guide the other back home to the truth. Scent is the tool he uses to make that happen. It’s actively triggering memories. When Aek says, “If you can truly recall, remain here for a while,” it’s a heavy moment, because it shows that remembering is a choice. To remember is to choose to stay in that emotional world. This is echoed again by “Our memories shall forever remain,” reminding us that the memory is always there, even if we’ve temporarily lost the key. The ingredients showed at the start with the first frame add another layer of meaning. When you can literally feel the scent of the campaign in the air and it's presence while watching and when you look at the characters’ names. White champaca (linked to purity and a quiet, aching longing) feels like a perfect match for Than. In Thai, the name “Than” can mean a foundation or something that endures. He is the stability, the presence that doesn’t fade. Between the flower symbolism and the line “Your scent is here,” Than starts to feel like a living embodiment of memory itself. Then we also have Siamese cardamom, which brings a warm, grounding energy that pulls you into the present. This feels more like Aek. The name “Aek” (or "Ek") often means “the first” or “the primary.” The line “It has a wonderful scent!” coming from Than reinforces his role as the one already attuned to scent, already aware of its significance. He recognizes it. Together, they create a perfect balance: Than and the champaca pull toward the past and emotional permanence, while Aek and the cardamom anchor us in the now. The line “This fragrance is most unforgettable” suggests that even if your mind forgets, your soul remembers. Beyond the concepts, there is this raw, tactile quality to the way they interact. Everything in the trailer is anchored in sensory perception. We see them closing their eyes to focus on a smell, searching for each other not just with their minds, but with their breath and their skin. Every tender touch and every lingering glance feels like they are trying to read each other through their senses. It’s a purely physical language, where a hand touching hand, or the way they lean in to catch a scent becomes more honest than any words could ever be. Because they aren't just looking, they are feeling their way back to the truth... This is why, instead of long explanations, the trailer uses touch and proximity to tell the story. The product is woven into these moments so naturally that it doesn't feel like an ad object at all, it feels like part of the relationship. It mimics how scent works in real life, bypassing our logic and going straight to our emotions. We aren't told to understand the relationship, because we’re simply invited to experience it now. Than’s character is especially interesting. The fact that his name is so close to the brand name feels really intentional. He is the brand’s values personified: consistent, opened and deeply connected to the senses. By showing them as a pair, the brand does something really smart and I love it so much. The product is about the connection between two people. It shifts the message from “me” to “us.” The line “Just as they do for our stories… that rest here” really hammers home the idea that our stories and our spaces are all preserved together. Of course the title, “Time, Space & Matter,” is a roadmap for the plot. Time is what separated them. Space is the distance between them. And Matter (the scent) is the only thing tough enough to survive and bring them back together. The quiet question, “Is it here?”, perfectly captures that search. Ultimately, the trailer suggests that love isn't erased by absence. It’s just saved in another form, waiting for the right conditions to be found again. And scent is the thread that keeps the story going. If the full series keeps this up, it reallywon't feel like an ad at all. It will feel like the scent itself: an experience that makes the story possible in the first place. Thank you @Thann_Official 🤍
