Opossums live short, difficult lives, yet they spend their nights doing work many people never see. Most only live about one to two years in the wild. They move through backyards, forests, roadsides, and neighborhoods after dark, searching for food while avoiding cars, dogs, predators, and harsh weather. Their lives are brief, but their role in nature is meaningful. Opossums help clean the world around you. They eat pests, insects, carrion, and sometimes even venomous snakes. They also help reduce ticks, which can carry disease. In their quiet way, they support the balance of the places they pass through. Still, many people fear them because of how they look or because they appear at night. But opossums are usually shy, gentle animals. When scared, they often freeze, hiss, drool, or play dead because they want to survive, not attack. Kindness can be simple. Give them space. Do not harm them. Slow down when you see one near the road. Let them keep doing the work nature gave them. Opossums may not live long, but they leave the world cleaner than they found it.

🆘 HOUSTON, THIS DOG NEEDS HELP NOW 🆘 A concerned citizen has been reporting this situation for over a week and has been making a nearly 2-hour commute every day to check on this dog. According to reports, the dog is being left outside in extreme heat and is showing signs of distress, including excessive panting. Water that is placed outside quickly becomes extremely hot due to direct sun exposure, raising serious concerns about the dog's welfare and risk of heat-related illness. This dog cannot speak for himself. The community's voice may be the only thing that gets him help. 📍 Location: Wyte Ln, Houston, TX 77093 The house is located between 4514A and 4510. Despite multiple reports, the SPCA has reportedly declined to intervene and has advised concerned callers to contact the Houston Police Department instead. 📞 Houston Police Department Non-Emergency: 713-884-3131 Community members are encouraged to respectfully call and request a welfare check. Every report helps bring attention to this situation and may help prevent a tragedy. Please share this post, tag local animal advocates, rescue organizations, media outlets, and anyone who may be able to assist. This dog deserves safety, shade, water, and proper care. 🐾 Please help amplify this message until help arrives. @houstonpolice @SpcaHouston @KPRC2 @KHOU @abc13houston @FOX26Houston @RWallaceFOX26

It felt good to be off social media yesterday. Things are in the works, that's all I can say for now. Negotiations are ongoing with the DA. My attorney choked me up yesterday when he sent me an email that was just one line: "Let's get Lucy home." Amen. Amen, amen, amen. I spent the day with the kids at the park while @Herb_Minstrel gave voice lessons at home, going over with pen and paper what I had feverishly typed up thus far about Lucy, the makings of what I hope will be a story with some appeal beyond just myself and my little family. Things just jump out at me on paper in a way they don't on a screen. I'm writing this as a way to protect her, in my own way, from anything like this ever happening again. She's kind of famous right now, but it's the 15-minutes-of-fame sort of notoriety. I want to lock that in. I want to make Lucy untouchable. I fell into a trap once that has made her vulnerable. I'm doing everything I can right now to make her invincible for the rest of her life. If I fail to convey Lucy's story in a way that has broad appeal, then at least I hope to have a personal story to add to our family lore, where it will be valued by the people who know and matter most, the same way I treasure all of the songs my wife wrote me to get me through the terror and tedium overseas. This will probably be another quiet day from me as I scribble lines on paper, cross them out, work them and rework them over and over - and do it all in those quiet moments when the kids aren't fighting with each other or getting into trouble or making messes and getting loud. Thank you all for your support of me and Lucy for these past several weeks. It means the world. #SaveLucy

Longtime friends and colleagues Shelby Steele and Thomas Sowell have warned the West for decades that its most poisonous enemies are white guilt and the racially engineered diversity racket. They argued that it would breed tribal hatred and undermine the West's greatest creation: the individual. Henry Nowak was not treated as an individual but as a representative of a race deemed guilty due to its white skin. “White guilt morally and culturally disarms the West. It makes the First World apologetic. And this, of course, only inflames the narcissism of the ineffectual.” -- Shelby Steele “We are among the biggest fools in history if we keep on paying people to make us hate each other. Whether it is called by pretty names like 'multiculturalism,' 'diversity' or gender awareness,' that is what it all boils down to.” -- Thomas Sowell

A parrot just saved a baby's life. In 2008, in Denver, Colorado, a small Quaker parrot named Willie did something that left everyone speechless. While babysitter Megan Howard was briefly in the bathroom, 2-year-old Hannah Kuusk began to choke. Hannah was choking on her pop tart, and her face was already turning blue. Willie began screaming in a way Megan had never heard before, flapping his wings frantically and repeating "Mama, baby" over and over until she came running. Megan later said that if Willie hadn't made a fuss, she wouldn't have come out of the bathroom in time, and Hannah would surely have suffocated. Megan saved Hannah by performing the Heimlich maneuver but said Willie "is the real hero." The moment Megan took charge, Willie instantly stopped squawking, as if he somehow knew things were under control. Hannah's mother, Samantha Kuusk, said: "The part where she turned blue is always when my heart drops, no matter how many times I've heard it." Willie received the local Red Cross chapter's Animal Lifesaver Award at a "Breakfast of Champions" event, attended by Colorado's Governor Bill Ritter and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. A tiny bird. A two-year-old girl. Two words that saved a life.

The UK is making it a crime to advocate for dogs. The creator of Save the Dogs UK, a campaign based on our rescue effort at Ridglan Farms, was raided and arrested for merely MAKING A WEBSITE to condemn the torture of dogs at MBR. Here is his statement.

A teenage boy offered to clean my entire storm-damaged yard for just $40. At first, I thought he was desperate. Then I saw the injured dog beside him. Seventeen-year-old Mason spent all day hauling broken branches in brutal heat without complaining once. Every twenty minutes, he stopped—not to rest, but to check on the stray dog he’d rescued the day before. The dog had been hit by a car. Broken leg. Visible ribs. Nowhere else to go. When I asked Mason why he needed the money so badly, his voice cracked: “If I can’t pay for the surgery tonight… they’ll transfer him.” That’s when I realized: He wasn’t working for spending money. He was trying to save a life. By sunset, my yard was spotless. I handed him $500. He tried to refuse it because we had “agreed on forty.” A kid willing to work himself to exhaustion for a dog he barely knew. Not because he had to. Because he chose to. People say young people today are lazy or selfish. That’s not what I saw. I saw character. Compassion. Responsibility. Sometimes, the richest people are the ones willing to give everything they have for someone who has nothing. Credit: Born legend

Academia is arguably the staunchest manifestation of herd mentality. Most academics belong to a new species known as the Invertebrate Castrati. They are meek, cowardly, tepid, soft, conforming, etc. If another academic comes along who has a big and playful personality that otherwise violates the exemplar template of meekness, the sheep become vicious. If you become famous, they hate you. If you write hugely popular books, they hate you. If you exhibit a honey badger mindset, they hate you. They are the mean kids in high school bathing in impotent and envious rage. As the old maxim goes "Never are the battles so fierce as when the stakes are so low." Such is the pettiness of most academics who are stay-in-your-lane bean counters when they should be brash and bold intellectual NAVY seals.

This is Daisy and Luna. Daisy doesn’t like car rides so Luna comforts her until they both fall asleep. Extremely heartwarming. 13/10 for both

Lucy the dog survived ISIS and the war zones of the Middle East, but she could meet her end at the hands of our government. OUR GOVERNMENT. Veteran Brendan Jones and his wife, Dolly, are now fighting to save their dog before she gets put down.

Our no-contact order has been lifted! @waynehhsiung and I still face 31 years in prison. But now we can talk. And organize. And most importantly — rescue the rest of the pups in labs together. 15,000+ beagles at MBR still need help. ALL our help. We’ll you there 💪

BUT it got even crazier and the story isn’t finished yet. The vaccine mandates started to kick in. Within a few weeks I was getting threatening emails from the administration of the hospital (and actually another clinic I worked in headquarted in Manhattan). “Show proof of two COVID vaccine doses or you can’t work here”. I submitted all my paperwork (what I thought was scientific logical information as a Doctor): I had COVID already (a very mild case, barely worse than a flu) and had been testing my antibodies. They were HIGH— so I had natural immunity! Had them tested multiple times. I’m sure my antibodies were much higher than many “vaccinated” people. So why on earth would I need a vaccine? No way anyway I wanted a novel mRNA genetic-based product. Declined— absolutely no benefit to getting the shot. Went back and forth with administrators (many of them doctors) explaining there was no scientific basis to receive the vax. I still have these emails. I had taken care of hundreds of COVID patients, helping them throughout 2020-2021. Was that enough? No. They said I could no longer work in the hospital or clinic. Well F* them! Their loss, no way I will surrender my bodily autonomy to checkboxes. Plenty of other places I can work and things I can do. If I, as a doctor, allowed myself to cave in and take an injection I knew I didn’t need, then I could never have looked at myself in the mirror again. So anybody who follows me online, and finds me a little bit extreme and radical when I keep on emphasizing how much I distrust and loathe segments of the medical profession: It was the above experience that truly radicalized me…

Almost 5 years to the day I had been working in a New York City Hospital Took care of loads of patients that day, some of whom had COVID I was healthy and testing my own COVID antibody levels [HIGH] Had no interest in COVID vax, declined Stepped outside end of long shift Denied entry into two restaurants to eat because I didn’t have my “vaccine card” Super hungry, had to walk almost half a mile to a convenience store to get some chips and candy to eat (literally the only thing!) Y’all might be able to forget how crazy the world got. But I will never And I’ll always have my guard up because it was the first time in my life I realized a supposedly advanced country with educated people was capable of extreme stupidity and crazy level rule-following
