Context: Nonito Donaire is the same age as me and I can't tie my shoes without having to consider whether I'm just light-headed or having some kind of early onset health issue, and he is a fight or two away from yet again challenging for a world title. ringmagazine.com/news/patrick-c…

@Ninja_Mike67 @PunchZoneAris I think it illustrates how easy it is to transform rumors into the sort of "everyone knows that" pseudo-factual information, not unlike the Johnson-Ketchel wiping teeth from his glove thing. Get enough (perhaps) well-meaning but irresponsible people repeating it and it's done 🤷‍♂️

@BoxingHistory @PunchZoneAris I always thought he’d broken Willard’s jaw and eye socket. The longtime exaggeration of Willard’s injuries probably fed the loaded gloves conspiracy too.

For when various fake historians repeat rumors and lies they heard one time about how Jack Dempsey broke Jess Willard's head, his ass, his buttcheek, his toe, his ear, his finger and his soul. "The only injury he suffered was a deep cut over the eye and a badly cut mouth."

To be fair, it's entirely possible they'll just cut and paste this post too, in which case it's a self-own and they're just spreading correct information, so fuck it.

One thing about the DAZN commentating crew is they're definitely going to insist on talking about Mexican fighters like they're some weird monolith that never change.

No need to grandstand about it, Nuñez just has no way to win and is getting physically messed up. Time to stop it. Easy.

It's an entertaining fight where Navarrete is slowly beating Nuñez up imo. Nuñez is still in there but he's not doing enough damage.

@BoxingHistory Bodies can be so different thanks to gene expression. And your argument could also be very different if you managed to address the topic instead of being pretentious about it with a pseudo-witty roast.

This is the kind of absolute nonsense you hear from your friend who is stoned for the first time when you're like 16 and saw a 72-second clip of Hagler highlights in a TikTok, only it's from a guy on "brain supplements."
Source of Boxing@Sourceofboxing

Joe Rogan talks about the freakish head muscles Marvin Hagler had that helped build his iron chin 🗣️ “Hagler had extraordinary mandible muscles, they did a CAT scan on him, they said the muscles on the side of his head was like he was born with headgear.” 🎥 @joerogan

@risurfcaster Precisely why it’s incredibly uncomfortable to hear in 2026 and possibly why Terence Crawford looked like he was on his 17th straight “damn that’s crazy” when Joe said it

@BoxingHistory Back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s that what racist journalists would write about black fighters and why it wasn’t fair for white fighters to give them title shots. I’m referring to the thicker skull nonsense.

@isherphi1980 Without question, working muscles tends to make them stronger. But a "strong chin" isn't necessarily all that prevents getting hurt or knocked out, and in some cases it does nothing. Hagler had underrated defense in addition to a fantastic chin

@BoxingHistory What does make a good chin? Jaw muscles? A strong neck? A strong core? Chavalo said he got chin partly from constantly chewing old bubblegum.
