Check out Deputy Chief Brandhorst’s historic fire extinguisher collection! These soda-acid, fire grenade, and dry chemical extinguishers represent over a century of fire prevention history. Come see more historic extinguishers in the Fire Station 1 lobby!

In February, we had 361 calls for service, 73 fire inspections, and 24 ambulance dispatches. Our 90th percentile response time was 9:12. Last month, we attended MSU's Career Fair, completed trainings and testings, and celebrated BFD’s 142nd birthday!

Last week, crews completed a Basic Wildland Refresher training. They reviewed equipment in the brush truck, practiced using wildland fire shelters, and completed a three-mile hike with 45-pound packs in under 45 minutes. They're ready for whatever this fire season throws at them!

Congratulations to Missoula Rural Fire District for earning their accreditation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence Commission on Fire Accreditation! They are now the 2nd accredited fire agency in Montana and one of about 300 accredited fire agencies in the world.

You might have heard of cow tipping, but what about fire engine tipping? Our crews tip fire engine cabs forward during monthly truck checks. This gives them access to each vehicle’s internal mechanics, so they can keep engines running smoothly!

Spring forward into a safer home! Daylight Saving Time is a great day to check your carbon monoxide detectors and replace their batteries. To test your detector, press and hold the test button until you hear the chirps. Replace the detector’s batteries once every six months.

Right seat, right time! Recently, the Montana Legislature updated Montana's Child Passenger Safety Law with House Bill 586. If you need help choosing or installing the right car seat, you can schedule a free car seat check with the Bozeman Fire Department at (406) 582-2350.

Happy 142nd birthday, Bozeman Fire Department! On Feb. 22, 1884, 24 local men gathered in Mayor J.V. Bogert’s office and “organized a company to fight fire and protect property and lives from this terrible demon.” We're proud of our history and look forward to the future!

January: 482 calls for service, 88 fire inspections, 8 ambulance dispatches, and response time 9:15. We finished Firefighter interviews and a Fire Captain promotion process, hosted a Fire Safety Educator class, and held a joint swearing-in ceremony with Bozeman Police Department.
