EXCL: Keir Starmer’s grip on power appears to be slipping away with cabinet ministers among those urging him to set out a timetable for his departure. I’m told that two senior cabinet ministers - Yvette Cooper, the foreign secretary, and Shabana Mahmood, the Home Secretary - told the PM he should seek an orderly transition of power. At least two others - believed to be John Healey and David Lammy - discussed with Starmer how they should take a “responsible, dignified, orderly” approach to what might follow. Several others - including close allies Richard Hermer and Steve Reed - were defiant, urging him to fight on. One cabinet minister told the Guardian: “In the end Keir has listened to cabinet ministers - there are differences about where this will go and what is in best interests of party and country. He’ll have to make a decision about what he’s going to do before cabinet tomorrow”. Several sources said how angry some cabinet ministers were with Andy Burnham and Wes Streeting, who they believed to have precipitated the leadership crisis by sanctioning allies to call for Starmer’s departure. “They’ve got their hands all over this,” one said.

Brown and Harman (rightly) deeply respected across Labour movement. Strategy clear-use grandees to cement PM in place. But risks clear too. If this is extent of reset it hardly reeks of change/adverts to Starmer’s lack of authority. Can’t do full reshuffle so stuck with this.
Steven Swinford@Steven_Swinford

BREAKING Gordon Brown is back Keir Starmer has appointed Brown as his special envoy on global finance Brown will advise the PM on how global finance cooperation can improve the economic security and resilience Not quite clear how the role will work or where he fits in with Reeves But it’s a big move by the PM in the face of increasingly mutinous Labour MPs

Gordon Brown sold 12,712,000 ounces of gold at a historic market low for revenue of $3.5 billion. Sold today at $4,721.64 per ounce that would net $60 billion. Or £44.05 billion. Welcome back.

@Kevin_Maguire Nailed on Reform / Tory coalition or supply and confidence. NI Unionist parties sure to support a Reform led government. Farage is heading for No10, and has been for a while now.

51% Left - Green, Labour & Lib Dem combined 43% Right - Reform & Conservative combined Britain is split and reactionary Reform benefit most as the largest minority but there is hope.
Patrick English@PME_Politics

We’ve released the BBC Projected National share based off the council results. Reform 26% Green 18% Labour 17% Conservative 17% Lib Dems 16% A clear but far from overwhelming victory for Reform, with everyone else clustered in a big lump behind them. Ultimate fragmentation.

There is no defending Jimenez if those videos going around of the conversation are real. Yes it may have been a setup but it could easily have been a real child who contacted him and the intent to meet up with bad intentions was there. #noexcuses #afcb

@GBPolitcs @Moreincommon_ Remember when Theresa May tanked her GE campaign by means-testing free school meals and alienating middle England? Now compare that to Zak Polanski’s polling collapsing after backing a terrorist over a police officer saving lives before mid terms...

Need Everton to lose. Chelsea too - will Forest go strong to survive or rest for the semi? We must avoid losing v Fulham, they could beat Wolves & Newcastle. Beat Fulham, MIGHT only need 1 point for Europe. 3 more (likely v Forest) for Europa rather than conf league. #afcb

@afcb_r0b Classic value buy with the upcoming league restructure for 2029-30, they also own Sandy Park, money to be made for sure. Redbull buying Newcastle and Dyson taking a 50% stake in Bath also know the score.
