Patrick De Haan@GasBuddyGuy
San Francisco is just cents away from becoming the first ever city in the U.S. to see average diesel prices reach $8 per gallon, while the state average for diesel in California stands at $7.63/gal. 7 states with prices over $6.

@DanLamothe @TaraCopp America’s Army doesn’t need fat generals collecting checks at their desks.
America’s Army needs fast, low cost coffin-builders in Guangzhou who can drop ship in a hurry.
English

NEW HERE: It's not just Gen. Randy George who's on the way out.
Defense officials tell me and @TaraCopp that Hegseth's team also is removing:
Gen. David Hodne, a former Army Ranger who leads the services Transformation and Training Command
Maj. Gen. William Green Jr., head of the Army's chaplain corps
Hodne's command was created under George's watch, while Hegseth has sought recently to overhaul how military chaplains operate.

@Octopusgardner @PatrickHeinisc1 @Zigmanfreud We produce sweet crude. We need sour / high sulfer oil for industrial use.
English

@PatrickHeinisc1 @Zigmanfreud someone pointed out that its like COVID, where it slowly spread around the world and it took it hitting that country for people to fully realize that this will be bad, We produce enough, but its a global market... It will be over $10 a gallon in CA by summer

@PTrubey @HedgieMarkets Big oil is going to make out like bandits. They will destroy our democracy and earth and won't think twice about it. Their marketing (propaganda) is going to be through the roof to quell the cry for alternatives when oil is $200/bbl
English

@PTrubey @HedgieMarkets And there should be a cost for not focusing on renewables and mandates. We should have a long time ago but this administration sold out to big oil by way of a flood of propaganda. We're the most gullible country on earth.

🦔 NV Energy is cutting off power to Lake Tahoe's Liberty Utilities by May 2027, leaving 49,000 customers without 75% of their electricity supply. NV Energy said it can't continue the contract because of its "own resource needs." At a business event last September, an NV Energy executive said data centers have driven requests to triple the company's peak capacity, calling it "unprecedented times" and adding that they're "excited to serve this load" but "cannot impact our existing customer base." Liberty Utilities now has about a year to find replacement power, likely from sources outside California since it's not physically connected to California's energy market.
My Take
A utility is telling 49,000 residential customers to find electricity elsewhere because data centers need the capacity. That's the tradeoff being made explicit. NV Energy didn't frame it that way, but when your executive says data center requests would triple peak capacity and then you cut off a decades-long customer to meet your "own resource needs," the math is obvious.
This is happening while AI companies burn through electricity at rates that would have seemed absurd five years ago. Jensen wants engineers using $250,000 in tokens per year. OpenAI is building data centers that need their own power plants. And now a ski town is being told to find power somewhere else because the grid can't serve both them and the machines. The NV Energy executive said they can't impact their existing customer base, but Liberty's customers are their existing customer base. They just decided which customers matter more.

@S_B_40 @charise_lee "Meter creep" is a term used to describe the issue. No offense intended. There is no comma after "meter".
English

@S_B_40 @charise_lee It's a legitimate meter creep. Doesn't matter what she's pumping the meter is moving with no flow. It happens. The Dept of Ag weights and measures check them quarterly and will red tag it as a result until it's repaired.
English

@charise_lee She’s holding the diesel hose, the screen clearly shows 87 being pumped. Stop with the fake outrage
