The Pentagon says a U.S. naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman has slashed about $4.8 billion in Iran’s oil revenue.
Since mid-April, dozens of ships have been turned back and over 30 tankers remain stranded, causing storage shortages and forcing Iran to use older vessels.
Some oil still reaches China via longer, riskier routes, but at higher cost.

US Central Command has sought approval to deploy the “Dark Eagle” long-range hypersonic missile to the Middle East, aiming to strike Iranian ballistic missile launchers that are currently out of reach for existing U.S. systems.
The missile has a range of around 1,725 miles and is built for rapid, high-precision strikes against heavily defended or time-sensitive targets.
If approved, it would mark the system’s first operational use, even though it hasn’t been fully declared ready. Each missile costs about $15 million, with only limited numbers available.
