To ease the mind of Cyclone fans, a 2-0 weekend would still not have been enough to clinch. They hung around long enough to make things interesting and was that way for a few months so they’ve been playing playoff type hockey for a while. I think that will help the growth of the team moving forward and propel them into a playoff spot next year. Improvements are needed to make a push and compete with Toledo and Fort Wayne (and likely Wheeling). The Clones need to fix up goaltending and defense. 7th most goals allowed will never get you into the playoffs. I think they need to look at getting some bigger and stronger defensive minded guys. This year saw a lot of offensive Dmen which hurt on their end of the ice. A few forwards also ended with some brutal +/- ratings. I think it’s safe to assume they will need to find a top goal scorer as Kirwan is likely to be AHL full time after a stellar season. If they can clean up on ther end of the ice, the wins will come much easier. Now that Weselowski has a year under his belt, he can build on that and improve this roster along with help from the AHL. Thank you everyone for following along this season! We will be working on stuff for next year and will keep you updated on any offseason news. We will also keep up with the Toronto Marlies playoff run! We hope you all have a safe summer and we will see you back in the arena in October!
