Stephen F. Austin is one of the hottest teams in the country. The Lumberjacks are 16-3, 9-1 in the Southland, and 95th in KenPom. Their three losses are by a combined nine points, while they are dominating their opponents. Their defensive metrics carry the heavy-weight punch as they are 58th in defensive adjusted efficiency, 9th in opponent effective field goal percentage, 8th in opponent three-point shooting percentage, and 28th in opponent two-point shooting percentage. Keon Thompson and Lateef Patrick are controlling the offense. Thompson is averaging 16.9 points with 5.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists while shooting 49.4% overall. Patrick is averaging 15.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals while shooting 39.8% overall. On defense, Jerald Colonel is averaging 2.7 blocks while sitting at 11th in the nation in blocking percentage. Opponents are having a nightmare trying to find points against the Lumberjacks, which is represented by final scores as just four teams have broken 70+ points against Stephen F. Austin. Can the Lumberjacks return to the NCAA Tournament? Can they regain that title of a true Bracket Buster once again?
