I've found that the best hitters tend to.. - Show up earlier - Take more notes - Ask more questions - Seek more challenging training - Put more effort into prep + warm-up routine

Players: There's never been an easier time to be an absolute dirtbag in the game than right now. Here are a few ways to stand out amongst the crowd that every player can do: ▪️Sprint on & off the field. 1st one on, 1st one off ▪️Run your best home to 1st time on every ball you hit ▪️Throw the ball with purpose when taking gbs in between innings ▪️Show your best pop times in between innings ▪️Stay up when you fail. Studs don't doubt ▪️Wear your uniform properly. Jersey always tucked in. Belt on. Hat on straight. The way the uni fits you matters. ▪️Win & lose with class. No poor sports & no shoving it into the opponents face when you win. ▪️Be a great teammate. A selfless one. Pick others up when they're down. ▪️Be a leader regardless of how your day is going. It's easy to lead when things are going your way. Lead when it's your hardest day & you'll gain respect from everyone. Talent will get you in the door, but the intangibles will keep you there!

Club/select sports have its place & purpose. But there’s nothing like playing with your school name across your chest. Representing your classmates, your teachers, your community. I’m reminded of this in the postseason of all 3 high school athletic seasons. Truly nothing like it.

I was the guy that thought he was ready to go play D1 ball out of high school. Had multiple D1 offers, hit .500 in high school, etc. I was delusional. I was 5'9 165lbs. I wasn't even close to strong enough, fast enough. I was a big fish in a small pond where I grew up. We branched out over summer & I always played well & stood out, but college was a different animal. I had to redshirt my 1st year bc of strength ultimately. That almost ended me. Parents told me to suck it up & do something about it. Thank God they didn't save me. I wanted to quit, drive 10hrs home & be done. Instead, I decided to die in the weightroom & eat. Gained 25lbs that year. Worked out 6 days a week, ate 5k+ calories. Made it to 190lbs. That year changed my life, allowed my All- American year to happen, cape cod all star, get drafted, etc. All because of strength. My challenge to you is to not wait until it's too late. Don't wait to wake up & work your ass off only when your back is against the wall. Make it who you are. Embody the work ethic always. Push to be the best you can be.

🚨HS Players🚨 Recruiting classes are shrinking. Most schools are only looking for less than 10 freshmen per class. That's why you are seeing decommits. You are competing against 21-23 year olds. Go where you can play.

The big field with 300 foot + fences, BBCOR Bats and throwing from 60 feet is a game changer! I have seen a ton of 12u players who were studs on the small field never transition to the big field. Stay Humble......

𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 When myself or any other scout, watches a 3B/SS/2B, we have to prepare that you “may not” get a ground ball in the game. So what do we look for if that becomes the case? Take your GB work from the 1B between inns seriously with a plan! We are looking for the following: Consistent accurate throws ALL the time. Footwork, body syncing, actions/movement patterns, or how your body works? Your hands and how your feet and glove work. Grading your arm strength and most importantly, how serious you take this “small” task, which is not small, but vastly important! Do you have a routine and are you consistent in that routine?! 1) As an IN’er take your in-between innings GB’s from the 1B seriously! 2) Are you consistent in your throws w/accuracy back to the 1B’man? 3) All INF’ers should take a routine GB straight up at your pos, then take a GB to your forehand, then backhand. You usually get 2-3 GB’s before the pitcher is ready to go. Mix them up throughout the game, working them in throughout the 7-9 inning game. 4) 3B take a GB from the back corner of the INF/OF grass to show off your arm strength, which also keeps your arm stretched out for the long throw and continues to build and develop arm strength. 5) SS take a GB(s) from the deep 6 hole as well, with the same thinking as the 3B. 6) 2B take your routine GB from deep behind the 2B bag and then as well from straight up SS. 7) 2B/SS - Together work in some turns and feeds around the bag. Be accurate. 8) Work on throwing from multiple arm angles, depending on the type of GB you’re receiving 9) One of the INF’ers has to be proactive in making sure all the INF’ers keep their gloves/hats together as a unit, so as to be able to know where your glove/hat is to bring to you, if you are the last out of an inning or are left on base. We don’t want to see INF’ers being delayed in bringing your glove/hat to you by having to yell “where’s your bag?!” 10) Last box to check off for a 2B’man is can you play SS? If you don’t profile as an everyday player at the next level, but fall into the UTL category, a 2B must be able to play SS for a time or stretch, in case of an injury. You won’t be able to be a UTL player in playing 3B/SS as a 2B, if you can’t play SS. Arm strength, consistency in your work, preparation and having a plan are all being evaluated. You never know who’s watching and what we are watching? Everything you do on the field is being evaluated. @prepbaseball
